Meet Melissa Pearson of Peaceful Pathways in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Pearson.

Melissa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started peaceful pathways in 2002 while I was working as a veterinarian. I was faced with the inevitable fact that my dog was declining and near the end of her life. As I do not work on my own pets, I began to research someone to come to my house to help. I found that there was no one to come and help. There was no service like that even available. So it was at that time that I decided that I can help other people through this difficult time with their pets. I was able to provide an alternative to having to go into a cold sterile clinic. I wanted pet’s last moments to be in a warm loving stress free environment.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were no struggles professionally because I have many years experience in my profession. Any Struggles I had were just the normal things everyone who starts a business encounter; designing the process, keeping records, building a website, advertising. Etc.

I had no computer experience as the internet had just evolved my senior year of Vet school, as well as, you get no business education in veterinary school.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Peaceful Pathways – what should we know?
Peaceful Pathways for Pets is a company that is dedicated to the compassionate end of life care for our furry companions. We also provide education and support and guidance for the pet parents during this difficult time. We pride ourselves on making this time in the pet’s life a serene and comfortable event surrounded by his loved ones, both human and furry. We are a luxury concierge service that is customizable to both the client and pet’s last wishes.

What separates us from other companies? My accessibility and my experience. I have over 20 years clinical experience. We differ from other companies in that we are not a corporate national chain and we do not contract out local veterinarians to perform our service. It is always myself or my associate doctor, Dr. Nicole Koenigsknecht. We both have extensive specialized training in hospice and end of life Care.
