Meet Zaria Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaria Love.

Hi Zaria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey with photography all begins in Washington DC. In 2014, my good friend introduced me to photography and I never looked back. From street art photography to taking portraits of people I found my love. My love and passion which is photography. Fast forward to 2018, I felt at my all time high with photography until I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I felt like my world came crashing down

because physically I was not able to capture people like before. I fell into a dark place but was able to pull through, all thanks to a photoshoot I did August 2018. This particular shoot was a revival because it showed me I still “got it”, and that I was still able to photograph with a disability. By 2019, I’ve made the decision to move from Maryland to Los Angeles, California. The move was an eye-opener but a positive experience in terms of photography. Recently, I’ve been getting multiple opportunities/gigs. It’s been hard but a beautiful journey.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but more so a road full of potholes. The struggles I’ve dealt with thus far are solely centered around my MS. Dealing with MS, my body is restricted in which it’s hard for me to keep my balance and walk. I use a walker to get around and to help me when it comes to photography. Overall, the road I’ve been on has been very much rough.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As my bread & butter, I work full-time as a payroll specialist. However, as my “side hustle,” I am a photographer. I’m mostly proud of both professions. Me being able to manage my disability and two professions set me apart from others.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was spending time with my family and friends. Going to the park with my older brother. Listening to all the old school music. Just overall being a child with no responsibilities.
