works of painters

[edit]

Please note that in the case of painters image (P18) should hold images of the painter, not their works. Your current batch job will need to be rolled back.--Hjart (talk) 11:17, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chemical diagrams

[edit]

FYI image (P18) is not a correct property for chemical diagrams or 3D models. Use chemical structure (P117) for chemical diagrams and image of molecular model or crystal lattice model (P8224) for 3D models and crystal structure models. Wostr (talk) 14:51, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hancockia

[edit]

@Nickpolk: .....the picture, you inserted here in the genus Hancockia of the family Orchidaceae, is a sea slug and not an orchid. See en:Hancockia californica. Orchi (talk) 17:04, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Empty items

[edit]

Hi Nickpolk

Some time ago, User:Mike Peel set up a bot to create new items and populate them with some statements.

It seems that this may no longer work as you create new items in large numbers without any statements at all.

Was this discussed somewhere? Do you have a plan to populate the items somehow? --- Jura 09:08, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like this is just for the Japanese Wikipedia? Pi bot doesn't run through that at the moment, it just does en, simple, de, and pt. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 09:33, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, I found it when checking enwiki redirects. empty items for jawiki pages aren't really better than those for enwiki. There are currently 12000 [1] --- Jura 10:07, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiikidata

[edit]

Please do not add personal photo to Wikidata, if you do not know who it represents. E.g. for mathematicians Sándor József (matematikus) (Q1314692), Tóth László (matematikus) (Q1327355) you added an incorrect photo. Be much more attentive!!! Wikizoli (talk) 18:22, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding English labels to Japanese items

[edit]

I notice you've been importing a lot of empty Japanese items lately, and that's fine. But I've noticed that after I add the P31:Q5 (instance of: human) parameter to them you go back and add an English label. Please stop. I think you may be using some kind of automatic translator, and they frequently use the wrong reading. For example, in Q109601921 you labeled "五十嵐剛" as "Go Igarashi". That name CAN be read that way, but if you click into the article itself it says in hiragana that this person's name is read "Tsuyoshi Ikarashi".

Putting the wrong romanization in the English field makes it impossible for people and bots to tell if a newly-created article on their wiki corresponds to this item. It's going to cause a lot of unnecessary duplication, and it'll be really difficult for someone else to spot and resolve this error. If you want to help, please add P27:Q17 (country of citizenship: Japan). That will put it on a SPARQL query I've made for people with Japanese citizenship without English label. There's 14,000 items in the backlog right now, but doing it this way will make the missing label findable so that someone can put an accurate romanization in.

I've corrected a few, but if possible, please revert all of your English label edits for Japanese items. Thank you! Mcampany (talk) 18:26, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

P31

[edit]

In your recent batches you seem to treat instance of (P31) property as a catch-all for any related keyword. Please see Help:Basic membership properties on how to use this property. Edits like Special:Diff/1532246718 and Special:Diff/1531675717 are nonsense. 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:D03D:EFA:9CAE:6FCD 13:21, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please revert your additions of instance of (P31) as they are almost entirely incorrect. Thanks! –LiberatorG (talk) 19:45, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

please don't add random labels to items

[edit]

For Q109315216, the French pagename isn't a suitable label. Please undo all such edits. The label should be the English language film title. --- Jura 23:03, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning!!!

[edit]

Don't add random labels to items!!!!! Hasung1120 (talk) 05:47, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you add empty items?

[edit]

f.e. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q109434429 Please add statements to created items or don't add items. I can't see the value of these items or is there a purpose I overlook? To me it looks like polluting the data. AnnikaHendriksen (talk) 14:32, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted empty item

[edit]

I have deleted Q109439564 because it was empty and wasn’t being used anywhere. An item is empty if it does not have any claims or sitelinks. Unfortunately, such items are not useful to Wikidata, and they are normally deleted. If you were planning to return to this item later in order to complete it, please let me know as I can restore it if appropriate. Remember that all items are expected to demonstrate notability and, although this might not apply in this case, we strongly discourage editors from creating items where they have a conflict of interest, for example about themselves or their employers. Q109568815

[edit]

I suggest that you should merge Q109568815 into Q116250709 for more convinience - Jjpachano (talk) 14:14, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of deleted item

[edit]

I have deleted Q108678651 because it appears to be a recreation of deleted item Q123698871 . This means that we have already made a decision that this entity does not satisfy our notability criteria. Please do not recreate deleted items, as they are likely to be deleted again immediately, and your account may be blocked. To appeal this decision, see Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion. Bovlb (talk) 04:13, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong label

[edit]

Hi, please note that this edit was multiply wrong:

  • the item is about the core municipal part, not about the whole town
  • "Czech" is an adjective, or a name of the Czech language or a Czech citizen, not a name of the country (that is Czechia, or politically - Czech Republic).
  • labels and descriptions should start with lowercase unless it starts with a proper name

Please, don't edit labels or descriptions unless you are completely sure of what you are doing. Thank you. ŠJů (talk) 03:15, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
