Motivation
[edit]Microsoft maintains its own entity API. We already have imported basically all of the data from Google's API it would be useful to import Microsoft's also. It would also potentially unlock more value as we could import data from the microsoft API. I would probably write a bot to import the ones that can be done automatically e.g. via wikipedia URL.

Discussion
[edit]- The examples you give with the formatter URL seem to have incorrect search results. The sidebar is correct, but the results are for a search for "asterisk". Can that be fixed? The Earwig (talk) 03:52, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @The Earwig: not without making the formatter much more complicated. at least not that I've figured out. BrokenSegue (talk) 04:32, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Support I am not so worried about the formatter URL, that is something that may get fixed eventually if they fix their API. BrokenSegue is there a public mapping that we could import between these and Microsoft Academic ID (P6366) of which we already have 200k items? --Hannes Röst (talk)
- @Hannes Röst: you would think there would be a mapping but I haven't found any such thing. they must be related though as one is the precursor for the other. BrokenSegue (talk) 02:48, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- Support Is there an easier way to get these values than to sign up with a credit card? AntisocialRyan (talk) 18:29, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- I, too, would like to find a better way to extract the entity IDs. Has anyone found a way?--Bricks&Wood (talk) 20:14, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Bricks&Wood: i believe you used to be able get them from scraping bing.com but I haven't looked in a while. Paying to get this data just turned out to be way too expensive so this property is dormant. BrokenSegue (talk) 20:30, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

- Done @BrokenSegue, The Earwig, Hannes Röst, AntisocialRyan: created as Bing entity ID (P9885). Enjoy! --99of9 (talk) 07:24, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
