Discussion
[edit]- Question same as YouTube channel ID (P2397)? --- Jura 16:21, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Jura1: Applies to YouTube Music (Q28404534) not YouTube (Q866). Eurohunter (talk) 16:26, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- Is there a difference in the ids? --- Jura 16:27, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
- Support Is there a way to re-open this proposal? YouTube Channel IDs are always different from YouTube Music IDs, and that's because the YouTube Music IDs are created from the former YouTube Topic IDs, which in turn were created from music sourced by aggregators and matched with Content ID. For example, Metallica's official YouTube Channel ID is UCbulh9WdLtEXiooRcYK7SWw, but their YouTube Music ID is UCGexNm_Kw4rdQjLxmpb2EKw (which if you modify the URL and take out "music.", it will link you back to the old YouTube Topic channel see here. Having both of those in the same YouTube Channel ID box creates a lot of metadata confusion, because one is an Official channel, and the other is, essentially, a streaming platform for just the music (like Spotify and Deezer). Since pretty much every musical artist out there will have one of each... I think it certainly warrants a new property dedicated to YouTube Music Channel IDs. Of note, another attempt was made here, but the nominator failed to show the difference between the standard YouTube channel ID--Bricks&Wood (talk) 20:28, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- This discussion has been closed for years, so you may re-propose this property at one of the subpages of Wikidata:Property proposal. Name it something like "YouTube Music channel ID 2". -wd-Ryan (Talk/Edits) 01:59, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
