Life and career

[edit]

Campan received his Master Degree with Honors from Aix-Marseille University and is a Doctorate Program Alumni of Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas as well as a Ludwig von Mises Institute Adjunct Scholar. He taught Economics and Business Management in Africa (Madagascar), South-East Asia (Cambodia) and France. Campan was a Senior Researcher with the Institut Economique de Montréal during the COVID crisis. He wrote OpEds and was invited to radio and TV programs to debate AI,[1] the Wealth Tax,[2] telecommunication regulation,[3] and covid public policies.[4] He was appointed by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as one of 8 High-Commissioners to review the Federal Tax system[5] and was a rapporteur for the Québec Assembly public consultation on police reform.[6]

Campan's review[7] of Richard Ebeling collection of Austrian classics on the Trade Cycle was a first step towards establishing his standing among the Austrian School Economists. Campan's initial contribution to the conceptual foundation of economic science, "Does Justice Qualify as an Economic Good: A Böhm-Bawerkian Perspective",[8] published in 1999 by the Quaterly Journal of Austrian Economics was translated in spanish and continues to have a lasting influence within the Law and Economics circles.[9] Campan's political economy treatrise "Théorie Générale de l'Interaction" published by Zomia Editions in 2016 earned him accolades from the general public and peers alike. A shortened version was translated into english in 2018 under the title "The Archipelago of Freedom. Essay in the Methodological Foundations of Political Economy". Campan's treatrise was prefaced by Gérard Bramoullé who praised Campan for his systematic debunking of the post-marxist heterodox Economie des Conventions school of thought, and for being able to foray beyond economics and catallactics into a praxeological approach to conflict named "polémologie" or war studies.
