The prison
[edit]Russia's northern-most prison for the most dangerous criminals is situated in this town. Not even a single word about it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.170.78.66 (talk) 14:53, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- Russian opposition later [Alexei Navalny] is detained here. [1] Ncr100 (talk) 17:53, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
Navalny
[edit]Someone is making an edit war about including the irrelevant information about Navalny. I removed it once, but they put it back. There are many prisoner in these instalations. There's no reason to pick Navalny for special mention. 76.71.91.123 (talk) 03:27, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- Navalny seems worth mentioning to me. A web search for the locality turns up mostly articles about Navalny in reliable sources. Examples: [2] [3] [4] Thriftycat Talk • Contribs 04:14, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
- I think navalny should not be included as this is not about the polar wolf Maestrofin (talk) 02:00, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- The settlement is notable as the place of his death, as evidenced in numerous sources. Roger 8 Roger (talk) 04:35, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Shouldn’t we add Notable people here then Maestrofin (talk) 11:09, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
What built when?
[edit]The Barants Observer source says, "The Kharp penal colony No 3 is one of Russia’s northernmost prisons. It is located on the Nenets tundra about 30 km from Labytnangi, the town built by Gulag prisoners during the Stalin era." The article says Kharp was built by Gulag prisoners. The France source says the prison was built by Gulag inmates, not the town. This should be clarified with another source. Roger 8 Roger (talk) 21:36, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
