 – Done.

It would be nice for collaboration to be included in the template. --Midnighttonight Procrastinating on uni work... 04:27, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Use the "collab" parameter, like so: {{topic|Canada|collab=Canada collaboration}} creates:
This doesn't auto-detect, since as far as I can tell there is no naming pattern for collaboration pages. Cheers, -- Visviva 09:00, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]
Resolved
 – Something practical was done to resolve the issue.

Currently, the parameter pna assumes that the project has a cleanup page of the type: "Wikipedia:Pages needing attention/X." Can the template be modified to optionally point to the cleanup listings generated in Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions Regards—G716 <T·C> 13:13, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The "Wikipedia Pages needing attention/X" stuff has been abandoned. So has Wolterbot's stuff (hasn't done anything since Mar. 2010). I've modified it so that it uses "Category:{{{attention}}} articles needing attention", and it will automatically use {{{1}}} if {{{attention}}} unspecified. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 10:24, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image size

[edit]
Stale
 – Underlying template has to be fixed first.

Would it be possible to add an option to adjust the image size? Regards—G716 <T·C> 20:14, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Can't fix": The underlying {{Notice}} template doesn't support that. It would need to be upgraded first. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 10:18, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Result is dependent on the case of the input

 – Fixed to the extent practical.
  • {{topic|Film}}
  • {{topic|film}}

This is not an issue if the topic is a proper noun, such as Canada:

  • {{topic|Canada}}

Half Red X Won't fix and half  Fixed: Way too much hassle to deal with installing some kind of case detector, and we're all very used to article names being capitalized, like Chocolate and Dog, as a matter of jargonistic Wikipedia-internal style. That said, there are now parameters for custom-specifying EVERYthing, so if this comes up, it'll just be manually fixed on a case-by-case basis. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 09:48, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete parsing?

[edit]
Resolved
 – It's a system limitation with a clear workaround.

Can somebody account for Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat where only the first items are fully listed, whereas for most of the page only two items (Article – Category) get listed? __meco (talk) 12:42, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your page has been automatically added to Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls. See Wikipedia:Template_limits#Expensive_parser_function_calls. Regards—G716 <T·C> 23:25, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are allowed no more than 500 calls to expensive parser function calls in any one article. {{topic}} calls "#ifexist" six times, so you cannot use this template more than ~80 times on a page. Perhaps you could split your page into [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat/United States states]], [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat/United States cities]], [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat/Africa]], [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat/Europe]], [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat/Topics]], and so on, and then includes links to these subpages on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat Regards—G716 <T·C> 05:20, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That reads like a good idea. I'll see if I can get that implemented. __meco (talk) 06:15, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. Six years later and still not implemented. Warning: This page contains too many expensive parser function calls. It should have less than 500 calls, there are now 3,559 calls.
Let's see, 3,559 ÷ 500 = 8 (rounding up) pages that the report would need to be split into. Too much work. An easier solution is simply to make a version of {{topic}} that doesn't care about red-links, and thus has no use for the expensive "#ifexist" function. – Wbm1058 (talk) 03:06, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Flat now uses {{Topic links}}. That was a fair amount of work too, but now that page is a lot happier. Wbm1058 (talk) 17:43, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Overhaul

[edit]

I've totally overhauled the code, for redundancy removal, new features (more coming as I think of them), failsafes, increased flexibility (e.g. two topics), updates for new locations for things like the "needing attention" material, and so on.— Preceding unsigned comment added by SMcCandlish (talkcontribs) 10:28, 15 August 2011
