Umayyad Architecture influence on the Islamic Architecture of Iberia

[edit]

I have a question to the administration regarding Al-Andalus; since according to Arabic language books, the Umayyad architecture played a big role influencing the Islamic architecture of Iberia, but according to the official Wikipedia page (Moorish architecture), I hardly find the Umayyad architecture mentioned at all, instead the first influence mentioned here is the Berber culture (even though the Muslim Iberians fleeing the Spanish Inquisition in masses to North Africa were the ones who actually influenced the North with their Andalusian elements according to Arabic books). So was it the Arabic culture that first blended with the Native Iberian elements, or is the article correct that the Berber culture was apparent there and the Arabic culture had lesser influence to the local Iberian elements?. Thank you.

Hi Al Ameer son! I'd like to ask for your help with an edit war at Talk:Ali#problematic_edits. Thanks! Albertatiran (talk) 08:15, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article Kisrawan campaigns (1292–1305) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Kisrawan campaigns (1292–1305) for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

[edit]

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Might this be of any use? It can easily be corrected/amended... Best wishes, Amitchell125 (talk) 09:47, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Amitchell125: You're a saint my friend. It's excellent, thank you for this very helpful gift. I made a few minor fixes and will add it to the article shortly. One favor though, would you be able to fix something for me on the chart: could we make "Bashir I" the product of the marriage between his father Husayn and the daughter of Mulhim, Fa'iza? I incorrectly made it appear that he was solely Husayn's son and that Husayn's marriage to Fa'iza is incidental. Thanks again! --Al Ameer (talk) 16:40, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mu'awiya I scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the Mu'awiya I article has been scheduled as today's featured article for January 12, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 12, 2022, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.

For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.

We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:16, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

January songs
in friendship

Thank you today for the article about "the founder and first caliph of the Umayyad Caliphate. Though his family led the opposition to the Islamic prophet Muhammad, he became the Prophet's scribe after the conquest of Mecca. He was sent as a commander in the Syrian conquest two years later and gradually governed that conquered region, where he secured a strong power base among its Arab tribes and mostly Christian bureaucracy. He defeated the 4th caliph, Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law Ali in the first Muslim civil war, bringing the caliphate under his rule. Considered controversial in Muslim tradition for seizing power, being less religiously devoted than his predecessors and establishing dynastic rule, unprecedented in Muslim politics, he is also admired for his competence, leadership skills and mild rule."! DYK for Kisrawan

[edit]

On 19 December 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kisrawan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the punitive Mamluk campaigns against the non-Sunni Muslim mountaineers of the Kisrawan from 1292 to 1305 helped pave the way for the region's Maronite Christian majority? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kisrawan. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Kisrawan), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer son, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Guerillero Parlez Moi 10:59, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Al Ameer Son, I hope all is well with you! LouisAragon recommend I reach out to you, though I have been familiar with your admirable work for some time. A few months ago I rewrote the article on Barbad as a part of my project in improving important but overlooked non-Western musical figures. I nominated it for GAN, but it has been sitting in the queue for about two months now. I wondered if you might consider reviewing the article? I presume that music is not your primary interest on Wikipedia, but I had a lot of trouble dealing with some contradictions and lack of uniformity in various sources, so I would think someone familiar with the region could help out the most. No worries if you're too busy or uninterested! Best – Aza24 (talk) 22:02, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ameer son, I have the page now since quite some while on my watchlist and you need to revert the articles edits maybe once or twice a week? I have thought on requesting a better page protection, but I guess you are more experienced, so I ask you first what you suggest what to do.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 21:58, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Paradise Chronicle: Please excuse the very late response! The disruptive edits are not yet on a scale where I think protection is warranted. Will continue to keep a watch on it. If the frequency increases, then I could see it receiving protection from edits by brand new or unregistered users. Al Ameer (talk) 15:38, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The last two weeks were a bit calm, until today at least. Your tolerance is admirable. I'll be attentive as well to let you focus on getting more articles to GA or FA.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 19:22, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

about Zufar's article

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer, sorry to bother me I want to ask about the article Zufar ibn al-Harith al-Kilabi. Zufar's father in the article is named al-Harith ibn Yazid al-Amiri why not al-Harith ibn Yazid al-Kilabi like his son's name? sorry I'm confused about this. Thank youIylaq (talk) 02:33, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Iylaq. The source, in this case Tabari, uses Amiri for the father and Kilabi for Zufar. His father was not mentioned anywhere else (in the early sources) as far as I know. The Banu Amir, of course, includes the Banu Kilab so there is no contradiction. I would keep it the way the sources have it. Al Ameer (talk) 04:13, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Busr ibn Abi Artat

in the book of al tabaqat al kubra by Ibn Sa'd (this is the link= https://shamela.ws/book/1689/589), it is explained that Busr ibn Abi Artat's mother was named Zaynab bint al-Abras ibn al-Hulays who is a descendant of Amir ibn Lu' ayy. is this not mentioned by modern historians? Iylaq (talk) 02:34, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have not seen it mentioned in modern sources. But this is not controversial. You could add that his mother was "Zaynab ..., who also belonged to the Amir ibn Lu'ayy", attributing and/or citing Ibn Sa’d as a source. —Al Ameer (talk) 04:22, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for Fakhr al-Din II, "about Fakhr al-Din II, one of a long line of Druze chiefs from the Ma'n dynasty who far exceeded his ancestors in ambition and achievement. He became the governor and tax farmer of Mount Lebanon, Galilee and their ports and eventually much of the western Levant in the early 17th century. In the complex politics of his time, he was both an efficient tax collector and enforcer for the Ottoman Empire and an unprecedentedly autonomous and enterprising rural chief. Eventually his power became too much for the Empire to bear and he was crushed. Fakhr al-Din reinvigorated the ports of Sidon, Beirut and Acre by opening them to European commerce after a centuries-long hiatus and inaugurated the lucrative Lebanese silk industry. His most lasting legacy was the symbiotic union of the Druze and Maronites under his watch, which led to the precursor entities of the modern Lebanese state."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:35, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Syrian place names and other issues

[edit]

Why are you always working against me? Is their any issue. I stoped changing names! - (Most of them are however misspelled) Instead of supporting me, you are working against me. Do you think I have always time to change any article. Please bring all the christian villages you changed back because I was collecting all under one category. Eastern Orthodox Christians doesn't represent all Christians. Their are also other christians living in this villages. You are the only one I have problems here with. Nobody is judging my work. So please stop - that's no fun anymore!

Thank you very much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syrian91 (talkcontribs) 20:21, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Syrian91: Not working against you personally. In any case, I was attempting to discuss at your talk page but did not hear a response. On the names, I was not necessarily opposed to your changes there either except when it contradicted the clear common name, but such widescale changes of name spellings should be discussed first. On the demographics of these villages, you need to provide credible sources which say that there are significant numbers of Christians besides the Greek Orthodox which live in a particular village. We cannot rely on your personal knowledge (even if it is accurate) or Facebook/Youtube/other social media. You need to provide citations to reliable sources (ex. news articles, journals, books, credible websites, etc.) It is redundant to add the 'Christian communities' category, as that category is already covered under 'Eastern Orthodox Christian communities'. Lastly, trying to drive your point by reinstating these changes will be easily undone and simply lead to being blocked from editing. You are new and you seem to be very interested in trying to improve Wikipedia's coverage of this topic area. That is great because we need more interested editors. It would be best for you to familiarize yourself with the policies and guidelines of the site, and not to assume that editors are being being hostile to you when they are only seeking to adhere (and help you adhere) to those policies/guidelines. Mazraat el-Chouf moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Mazraat el-Chouf, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Onel5969 TT me 22:26, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This article is about a village in Lebanon, which is notable enough. It is a stub, but fully cited to RS. Does not need to be a draft in order to be expanded unless there is a new policy I am unaware of. Al Ameer (talk) 04:34, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Neither citation verifies that. Ref 1 appears to be a bad link (not sure what is happening there, since the wayback machine has it), and Ref 2 does not have a reference to this locale either. It does mention a Mazraat Ech-Chouf. Was unclear whether you were attempting to make a stub for this, and this was a typo (which is my guess, since it is spelled that way in your Ref 1). Onel5969 TT me 10:35, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ech-Chouf and el-Chouf are the same. Location 136/198 in the Levant Zone Grid. Appears on maps from the 1830s to now. This book has some WWII history. This history book has something about 1840-1861. A tiny bit of info here. And here. And a little in this thesis. Too much French for me. Zerotalk 12:55, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

Might you be able to create a page on a new and emerging national sport adopted by the Republic of Pakistan? Its grandmaster founder is an arrogant Sir Atif Hussain, who is currently in a sectioned ward. His nationality is British Pakistani, and he knows a handful of martial arts. He’s teaching there and thought what I’d ask of you is an article of his mediations. He calls it “Gladitorial Boxing” or “Pakistani Boxing.” (GPB) Gladiator because his claims of archaeology revealed something similar. I cannot confirm his findings, but if you start the stub and his sport takes off, it could grace Pakistan’s name. Huss4in (talk) 20:52, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Uthman ibn Abi al-As

[edit]

The article Uthman ibn Abi al-As you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Uthman ibn Abi al-As for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Kharijites FAC

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer,

The FAC ain't going well as there are no reviews so far (Constantine's being inactive) and Gog said that it will be archived within a week if it doesn't get any reviews. I've asked Funk and am gonna ask a couple others too. Would you have time to do the favor? Thanks. AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 16:59, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Levantine Arabic FAC

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer, Same issue as above, the FAC for Levantine Arabic may be archived soon if it doesn't get reviews. As you contributed to many articles related to the Levant, your review would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help you can provide. A455bcd9 (talk) 10:06, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A455bcd9: Excuse the late response. I probably can’t review it in this narrow window, due to stretched time between commitments here and in IRL—and more importantly, my limited knowledge of the subject, despite being a (poor) Levantine Arabic speaker myself. Nonetheless, I’m very interested in the subject and you have done great work. I will try to read through it in detail a couple times when I have the chance, and if it is still in the queue by then, I will leave my comments. If not, and for some reason it did not pass, you could count on me next time. Al Ameer (talk) 22:10, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks a lot for your swift reply. No worries at all if you don't have time. If you can just read it and make a few comments would be awesome. Cheers, A455bcd9 (talk) 09:16, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Al Ameer son. You recently added a reference to Fowden 2004, but the source is not defined in the article. Could you add the details, or let me know which work this refers too? LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmission °co-ords° 12:01, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maslama

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer son! Thanks for the additions and edits to Maslama's article! Do you intend to nominate it for A-class/FA? Constantine 16:52, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cplakidas: Yes, I was actually hoping to do a co-nom with you for FA status. You have already done the heavy lifting and it is very well-written. Just need to make sure it is comprehensive enough. Thoughts? Al Ameer (talk) 03:47, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to hear, and of course I'd love to bring this to FA. I honestly could not find much else than what I had already put in the article, apart from going into more detail on the various battles and campaigns, which I didn't really want to do for WP:SS reasons. If you think this is done, let's do this. I would recommend a MILHIST ACR run first though, as it helps iron out many troublespots. Constantine 18:36, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cplakidas: There's one area the article needs to cover better, and that's Maslama's significant agricultural projects in the Qinnasrin/Balis area and southern Iraq. I touched on it in the article, but there's enough there for a separate section. Hugh Kennedy's "Elite Incomes in the Early Islamic State" in ed. Donner and Conrad The Articulation of Early Islamic State Structures will be the main source for this, and there is plenty of supplementary material. I'll have it done by tomorrow. We could then revisit the Lead and button things up. At that point, would you mind submitting the nomination for MILHIST ACR, since you have plenty of experience there? I will of course be paying close attention and would be available to address any of the, mostly non-military, issues/questions that may arise. --Al Ameer (talk) 18:56, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
An interesting topic to add, thanks! As to the rest, sounds like a plan :) Constantine 18:59, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, should we not mention Maslama's descendants also as Zufar ibn al-Harith al-Kilabi's descendants in the latter's article? Constantine 06:36, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cplakidas: Problem is we do not know which of Maslama's descendants, if any, came from his marriage to Zufar's daughter. The mothers of Maslama's children are not identified in the sources I’ve come across. All we could say is that close ties were forged between the two families, which lasted through the remainder of the Umayyad period (Zufar's clan may have been wiped out in battle by the Abbasids during Abu al-Ward's revolt in 750) Al Ameer (talk) 06:45, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Constantine 12:00, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mamluk sultanate

[edit]

Can you please tell me why you changed the link from "Egypt eyelet" to ottoman empire ? איתן קרסנטי (talk) 05:23, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@איתן קרסנטי: Yes. 1) Egypt Eyalet was not a state or an autonomous entity of some kind, but a direct province of the Ottoman Empire (not until the 18th century, and really the 19th century under Muhammad Ali and his family, did Egypt become autonomous and then independent of the Empire)
2) It ignores the other major territorial component of the Mamluk empire, the Levant.
The Ottoman Empire literally succeeded the Mamluk Sultanate in all of its domains, first the Levant in 1517 and then Egypt by 1519. —Al Ameer (talk) 05:40, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Cplakidas. The Ibn Bayhas article was actually spurred by your comments at Banu Kilab. I was going to add the Syrian 'theatre' to Fourth Fitna earlier, but had trouble on how best to place it without ruining the article's flow. Zufar ibn al-Harith al-Kilabi

[edit]

Re your edit summary "but restoring the previous ref layout as I do not see how the revised layout, which is not consistent with other FA's in this subject area, is an improvement" [3], there are several points that can be made.

  1. As you are the main editor of this page, I will of course defer to your preference.
  2. My aim is to get editors to think about the best layout. There are two aspects of layout:
    1. The layout as it appears to readers of the article.
    2. The layout as it appears, in edit mode, to editors while editing the wikitext.
  3. Regarding 2.1, on most aspects I am fairly relaxed. The only point I think is categorically wrong is not using columns for the biblio listing. Long lines, especially on a wide screen, are very difficult, if not impossible, to read. There is a reason that most dictionaries, bibles, etc., and all newspapers are printed in columns! There is an optimum length for easy reading, and the {{refbegin}} template (with {{refend}}) helps you acheive that. Screen widths vary enormously between different devices, and the refbegin template automatically adjusts the columns to suit the width of the reader's screen.
  4. Again on 2.1, you might have noticed that I used the "indent" option, which helps to distinguish the author(s). This is an option I don't usually use, but I think is mostly a matter of idividual taste. I thought, what the hell, let's use it for a change, see what people think. I would just add that if any of the "author"s are corporate bodies (such as a government department) instead of individual human beings, then I would recommend against using the indent option.
  5. The second aspect (2.2) is a very different case. You can find a long list of reasons why the so-called "horizontal" format for cite templates (it isn't really horizontal at all) is so bad on my talk page here. The list may be long, but it is still far from complete. That is why, for the last six years or so, I have been developing a standard for setting out citation templates, and a script to implement it. I call both the standard and the script the boring name "ETVP", for "easy to visually parse". In other words, it has been explicitly designed to be as easy to read, and as easy to edit, as possible. Over the past six years it has had many thousands of small improvements made to it, so that, in my view, it is now close to an optimal solution. To take just one example, suppose you're in edit mode, and want to find the cite by a given author. That's quite hard to do in the usual LHT-clutter format, but in the ETVP format, you can spot it instantly. Many other examples in the list I linked to above.

I hope you can see why I am so astonished at your edit summary. --NSH001 (talk) 23:34, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan

In the article Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan, it is stated that "Umar appointed Mu'awiya in his brother's place over Damascus and Jordan." Aqsa

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer, if you have time please could you share your thoughts at the Al Aqsa mosque move discussion? I am conscious you are the article's primary contributor, have brought it to GA status twice, and your 2008 and 2011 GA versions seem to have taken a hybrid approach to the question of scope. Whether you agree or disagree with the current proposals, your views at the discussion would be incredibly valuable. Onceinawhile (talk) 11:25, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Oncenawhile: I kept up with the discussion early on, until it started getting into the weeds. As long as the article remains, or continues to contain, 'al-Aqsa Mosque' as opposed to the less common 'Qibli Mosque' that had been proposed in the past, I have no strong opinion either way. However, I will review the discussion again, and more sources, later today or tomorrow and offer my thoughts.
For the record, though I nominated it for GA twice, I do not believe that it meets the GA standards today, with failure to address the confusion of the mosque/compound being one of several reasons it should be reassessed/demoted. --Al Ameer (talk) 16:00, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

khalid ibn al-walid

[edit]

hello, Al Ameer son! i had a quick question regarding this article and the associated blurb. as "Sayf" does not appear to be preceded by a definite article in "Sayf Allah", would it be more appropriate to use the gloss "Sword of God" instead of "the Sword of God"? i noticed that the featured article also includes a definite article in the gloss "the Bedouin emigrants", but omits it in others such as "alms tax", so was unsure of when the definite article was being included in the glosses. dying (talk) 04:57, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

July songs

Thank you today for the article "about Khalid ibn al-Walid, a military leader who led the conquests which brought central Arabia and Byzantine Syria under Muslim rule. Though he dealt the early Muslims under the prophet Muhammad their first battlefield defeat, he embraced Islam soon after and devoted his military talents to the budding Muslim state. His tactics and strategy, including his famous 'desert march', have become enshrined in legend. The Muslim tradition levels serious charges of moral impropriety against Khalid, while crediting him more than any other commander for the success of the 7th-century conquests." - I have a FAC open, in case of interest. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:39, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

@Al Ameer son: hello can you help the article Battle of Jamal. the article, i.e. the reference is in stark contrast to Islamic sources. an example is in the article it is mentioned that Al Ahnaf ibn Qays is called the killer of Zubayr ibn al Awwam. even though the correct name of the murder was Amr ibn Jarmouz. Then Madelung considered the fictional story of Ali condemning the killer of Zubayr, while the story was mentioned in the books of Islamic scholars. Madelung also considers the fictional story of the negotiation agreement between Ali and Aisha. can you improve this article? I think there are users who are inciting to give false stories. Thank you today for the article, introduced: "This article is about Zufar ibn al-Harith al-Kilabi, a 7th-century Bedouin chief. He backed the Umayyad Caliphate's main challenger, Ibn al-Zubayr, when the Umayyads were on the brink of collapse. His Qaysi warriors were annihilated by their tribal enemies, the Kalb, who supported the Umayyads. Zufar led the Qaysi survivors in rebellion, and on a years-long vendetta against the Kalb and their Yaman confederates. He surrendered, mainly on his terms, securing for himself and the Qays a major stake in the Umayyad state. The vendetta, meanwhile, played out for decades as a bloody competition for power, which eventually tore apart the Umayyad state from within."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:56, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Al Ameer son,

I must confess I don't understand you edit here. Said was her maiden name, and as many married women she used both her maiden name and married name as surnames. As such, wasn't it more correct previously? Also, a "Rosemarie Zahlan" wasn't born in Cairo in 1937, but a "Rosemarie Said" was, cheers, Huldra (talk) 21:27, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra: Bit of a messy edit, I admit. Initially thought Said was her middle name (or the name of her father) and thought it strange to use 'Said', which is a masculine name, instead of her given name. Still think we ought to keep 'Rosemarie' to avoid confusion between the maiden (Said) and marital (Zahlan) names, but no qualms if you think it best to restore the previous version. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with that. And she comes from a pretty famous family, mostly thanks to her brother. Another sister, Jean Said Makdisi, has also kept her maiden name, cheers, Huldra (talk) 21:38, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Banu Kalb - undefined references

[edit]

Hi, in this edit to Banu Kalb you introduced references to "Bianquis 1986" and "Bianquis 1997", however you did not define them. This means that nobody reading the article can look them up, and also adds the page to Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. If you could fix these errors that would be great. Husayn ibn Numayr in Marj Rahit

[edit]

@Al Ameer son: Does the source not mention the presence of Husayn ibn Numayr at the Battle of Marj Rahit (684)? Thanks A154 (talk) 07:05, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@A154: Which source? Tabari? In any case, I do not know but can look into it. There are quite a few varying accounts of the battle. --Al Ameer (talk) 17:05, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Al Ameer son: Perhaps the premier sources have been translated. The source in question could be something like Al Kamil fi al Tarikh by Ibn al-Athir or Ansab al ashraf by al Baladhuri. Or maybe another source. Given that Bani Kinda participated in the battle and one of their leaders, Malik ibn Hubayra was also present, it is not known whether Husayn actually participated or whether he chose neutral. Resources for maps

[edit]

@Al Ameer son: Sorry for the super late response. Here are the resources for the maps (Harfush & Hamade families dominions and controlled territories) when you are available.

Harfush Family:

  • The Shiites of Lebanon under Ottoman Rule, 1516-1788 - Stefan Winter
    • Page 43: Harfushes would be appointed sancak-beğs of Homs and Tadmur rather than of Sidon (in 1585)
    • Page 48: In 1584 [...] emir ‘Ali, already the superintendent (emin) of Baalbek, had by then also been awarded the sancak governorship of Tadmur in the Syrian desert.
    • Page 56: The Harfushes were among [...] the first to be awarded lump-sum tax collection contracts in combination with governor titles to secondary provinces and districts such as Homs, Tadmur and Baalbek.
    • Conclusion (right after page 175): The Harfushes of Baalbek received the iltizam concession for the Bekaa as well as a rank in the provincial military hierarchy (the district governorship of Homs or Tadmur) in recognition of their long-standing position of dominance within local Shiite society

Hamade Family:

  • The Shiites of Lebanon under Ottoman Rule, 1516-1788
    • Page 58: for a time in the later seventeenth century, the family controlled a territory that stretched from Safita in modern-day Syria to the Futuh district in the mountains above Jubayl, south-east of Tripoli.
    • Page 80: [...] in 1667 [...] The following year, Ahmad again received the concession for ‘Akkar, Jubbat Basharray and, in a novel twist, for the predominantly Nusayri-inhabited district of Safita in the northern coastal mountains. [...] Meanwhile, the nahiyes of Jubayl country (Bilad-ı Cübeyl, as opposed to the city itself) and Batrun were awarded to Sirhan’s maternal cousin Dib ibn ‘Asi..
    • Page 80: [...] and captured Muhammad ibn Hasan Dib for having paid insufficient returns on his iltizam for Danniyye [...] (meaning Danniye was also part of their iltizam)
    • Page 80: With their tax and local government commissions stretching all the way into what is today north-western Syria, the year 1668 may well mark the greatest geographic extent of the Hamada ‘emirate’.

Arab–Khazar wars

[edit]

Hi Al Ameer! As you probably have seen, I recently substantially reworked the article on the Arab–Khazar wars. Barring a few minor additions that may be forthcoming, I think it is almost ready for a FA nomination, but first I would like to ask your opinion on it, mainly on three issues:

  • Comprehensiveness, especially in additional sources that you may know as being sort of our resident Umayyad expert
  • Understandability for the average reader who may not know anything about the Khazars and Arabs, or the geography of the conflict
  • Whether the detail is sufficient, or too much, or too little. Depending on the sources, the level of detail can vary enormously, between campaigns described in one sentence (effectively "A is said to have invaded B in year C and reached the city D"), and others where a long portions of text are dedicated to them. I've tried to apportion detail based on what the sources do, and also details that help give some context to the conflict (eg. the use of a wagon laager or siege weapons), but would like a second opinion here.

There is no hurry to do this, but I understand if you don't have time or interest :). Thanks in advance either way! Constantine 11:05, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Cplakidas: Man, you work fast. I was referencing the article for a draft on Marwan II. Without looking at the article history, I knew it had your fingerprints on it. Unfortunately, this is not an area where I have much familiarity, but I know quite a lot now after reading the article—so I'd say you have comprehensiveness covered. If I do happen across an important, missing detail in another source, I will incorporate it or let you know. I will take a deeper look concerning the other two issues and give you feedback soon. Cheers, Al Ameer (talk) 05:17, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, 'fast' is relative, I've been working on it on and off for a decade now ;). But thanks, and take your time. Am looking forward to seeing the finished work on Marwan II. Constantine 17:53, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cplakidas: Yes, that makes more sense...
Upon further reading, the article very much appears ready for an A-Class Milhist nomination, if not FAC. It covers the topic comprehensively, yet with concision, and is impeccably written. IMO, it is about as understandable to an average reader as it can get, though it might help to give even more locational context on some of the various regions and cities, especially the more notable places. It will help to mention that the Khazar realm was in modern Russia (and Ukraine?), for instance.
There is a healthy balance of details for a summary article of a century-long, on-off conflict. I found the extra detail in certain places to be enriching, rather than distracting. On the flipside, as I am not well-read in this particular subject, I cannot really tell when more detail is needed. If a separate article is started about the 737 Arab invasion, then this section could be safely pared down. Other than that, it's always good to get rid of any redlinks and to that end, I am happy to lend a hand. Let me know when you decide on taking the next steps. Cheers, Al Ameer (talk) 19:38, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your recent edits. As a heads up, there are some minor additions to be done, but the article will likely be my next FAC, after al-Adid is done, so I guess in a month or so. Cheers, Constantine 08:25, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, in this edit to Saladin you introduced shortened references to "Tabbaa, 1997, p. 31" and "Northen, 1998, p. 809" but did not define the sources. This means nobody can look the references up. Map request

[edit]
The Empire of the Abbasid Caliphte to 945

Hi Al Ameer, This is a first go at your map, but I think you will need to tell me what level of detail you would like, so that I can start amending this map, or make a new one based on what you would like. Regards, Amitchell125 (talk) 11:39, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Amitchell125 on a job well done. I have downloaded this draft and am marking it up with some requested details and amendments. Hope to turn it over to you by the weekend. —Al Ameer (talk) 03:32, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Amitchell125: Excuse the delay. Please see the marked up draft: File:Amitchel125 Early Muslim Conquests Map Markup.png. The mark up includes:
  1. Labeling the various regions, as well as the neighboring states and peoples
  2. Delineating (roughly) the frontier of Sind.
Other than what is marked up, I suggest the following:
  1. Converting the floating boxes with the caliphs' names to a legend format. The names of the caliphs should be spelled according to their modern English transliterations, i.e. Omar → Umar, Othman → Uthman, Mouavia I → Mu'awiya I, Abd Almalik → Abd al-Malik, Welid I → al-Walid I. "Mohammed's kingdom" should just be "Muhammad".
  2. I forgot to mention the reigns of Sulayman (r. 715–717) and Umar II (r. 717–720). The southern Caspian coast expansion phase should be attributed to his reign not Uthman's, though the area should cross-hatched since it was not truly conquered. The conquest of Septimania or Narbonne (the boot shape north of Spain) should be attributed to Umar II.
  3. Cyprus should be cross-hatched since it was not truly conquered.
  4. Oceans and large bodies of water like the Caspian and Aral seas should be colored light blue.
  5. Rather than different shades of blue, the different phases of expansion should be colored by a different palette, perhaps similar to File:Second Fitna Territorial Control Map ca 686.svg.
Please let me know your thoughts, and thanks again for taking the time to work on this request. Al Ameer (talk) 17:23, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay, where did the days go? I'm currently working on all your suggestions, you should hear from me again in a couple of days. Regards, Amitchell125 (talk) 19:13, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Map of the early Muslim conquests 630s–820s
@Al Ameer son: Please see the second version, all suggestions for amendments are welcome! Amitchell125 (talk) 16:31, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Amitchell125 ;) The map looks excellent. There are some more tweaks and then it should be ready for use in several articles:
  1. The northwestern 'strip' of the Iberian Peninsula should not be shaded green because it was never conquered by Muslim forces.
  2. Perhaps label as 'Septimania' the area conquered under Umar II's reign? Incidentally, this area is strictly limited to the Narbonne region, the area in pink in the Iberian Peninsula proper should be green.
  3. The color used for the conquests under Mu'awiya should be the same shade of purple.
  4. Khwarazm is the name of an area rather than a tribe and should thus be written in black without italics.
  5. The conquests under Umar and Uthman are mixed up; they should be switched.
  6. If possible, one of the two alternating colors of the Cyprus crosshatching should be the color used for the conquests under Uthman since Cyprus was first brought into Arab dominion or condominium during Uthman's reign.
  7. On second thought, Sicily and Sardinia should be shaded and a corresponding label in the legend made called "Conquests under the Aghlabids (800–909)".
  8. A label in the legend should be made for Crete: "Conquest by Abu Hafs (820s)".
  9. The color indicating conquests under Sulayman should be crosshatched in the legend as well. Also, maybe a different color than white/light gray should be used.
  10. The title of the map should be "The Early Muslim Conquests 630s–820s" or "The Early Muslim Conquests up to the 9th century".
  11. If possible, could we add some kind of colored border for the Byzantine Empire similar to File:Arabische_Eroberung_2.jpg? Al Ameer (talk) 19:55, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Al Ameer, my apologies for the delay, some of the tweak you want are dishearteningly tricky to do, and at present there's of other things on. I'll see if I can finish the job today. Amitchell125 (talk) 07:41, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
New version now uploaded (see above), please let me know of any further amendments you would like. Regards, Amitchell125 (talk) 09:09, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you kindly Amitchell125, this is an excellent map and your time and diligence is very much appreciated. Barring any comments in the al-Walid I FAC, I have no further requests, except that the image should renamed as File:Map of the early Muslim conquests. I will start adding it to the relevant articles. Al Ameer (talk) 01:16, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Нello why was my edit deleted.this article needs an image I think the image I added to the article is good for the article . Toyota 1999 (talk) 06:23, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Toyota 1999, please see the second paragraph of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Islam-related articles#Islamic honorifics. The image is calligraphic decoration and add nothing of encyclopedic value to the article. Such images go against wiki guidelines. The summary box is better off without an image in this case. —Al Ameer (talk) 14:14, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But i think the summary box with the picture is better. I have added the picture in the Arabic and Persian encyclopedia. Please change your opinion and do not delete this image. Toyota 1999 (talk) 18:08, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is not just my opinion, but part of the above referenced manual of style guidelines after a clear consensus was established by editors regarding the issue of decorative / honorific calligraphy in articles about early Islamic figures. And what occurs on Arabic and Persian wiki is not material to English Wikipedia. —Al Ameer (talk) 18:31, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Walid I scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the Al-Walid I article has been scheduled as today's featured article for July 19, 2023. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page blurb, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 19, 2023, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so. If you wish to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article, you can do so at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/July 2023.

I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:23, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On 14 June 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Al-Faddayni, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the rebel al-Faddayni, a descendant of Caliph Uthman, led the last major attempt to reestablish Umayyad rule in Syria? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Al-Faddayni. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Al-Faddayni), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Maronites and Arab identity

[edit]

Hi! I see you are an admin! I am writing to you because I would like to ask you for information! I am a user of the Italian-speaking Wikipedia (excuse my bad English), but I often intervene here in the English-speaking one, I just don't know the rules well (we Italian speakers have different rules). I wanted to open a discussion about the Maronites, because I've noticed that there are users who are imposing Phoenicianist ideas. However, I would like to invite everyone to the discussion (using the Ping template), both those who have spoken in the past in favor of fanicianist ideas, and those who were against it, in order to find a consensus and a compromise. Would inviting users to a discussion be considered against the laws of English-speaking Wikipedia? Then I would like to know what you think of this situation and if you think that a discussion about this subject would be worth it. --Syphax98 (talk) 09:37, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Syphax98. Directly inviting users to weigh in about an issue of identity would be seen as canvassing, even if done in good faith. It would be better to raise your concerns at Talk:Maronites or the discussion pages of the relevant wikiprojects. If it devolves into a shouting match between advocates of the respective viewpoints, you can make a Request for comment for (hopefully) outside and (ideally) neutral input. If the issue is more about disruptive editing, then you can open a query at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/incidents. Hope that helps, regards. Al Ameer (talk) 19:31, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, my idea was to open a discussion in Talk:Maronites. --Syphax98 (talk) 09:48, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

al-walid i

[edit]

hello, Al Ameer son! i had a quick question regarding this blurb for this article. the blurb states that al-walid was "the first caliph to institute programs for social welfare", while the article body does not appear to make a similarly strong claim, stating instead that he "inaugurated public works and social welfare programs on a scale unprecedented in the caliphate's history". admittedly, i think the assertion made in the blurb is rather bold, and i have not been able to find a source supporting it. would it be more appropriate to replace the last sentence in the blurb with something like "His reign was marked by domestic peace and prosperity, and saw the inauguration of social welfare programs on a scale unprecedented in the caliphate."? dying (talk) 22:16, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for the article "about the sixth Umayyad caliph, al-Walid I, whose decade-long reign represented the zenith of Umayyad power and prosperity, though his direct role in its successes is unclear. History of Gaza as a Featured Article

[edit]

Hello, I was thinking about nominating History of Gaza for Featured Article status. As the creator of the article and a significant editor, I thought I would consult with you before nominating it. I recently cleaned up some portions and added in some information about the Israel-Hamas war, so I think it's good to go. Personisinsterest (talk) 00:21, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Personisinsterest: Thanks for improving the article. Featured Article status requires a very high standard that, in my opinion, the article does not meet. The review process is rigorous and the article in its current state will not pass. I highly encourage you to continue researching the subject and, using the best available scholarly sources about the subject, improve it to meet the FA criteria. If you decide to do this, I am happy to help where I can and will look for and provide you sources if you would like. Al Ameer (talk) 16:25, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I can look into that, thanks Personisinsterest (talk) 21:47, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the article is focusing on Gaza City and it’s relation to the war, sources generally don’t tell it from the Israeli perspective. Personisinsterest (talk) 05:45, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

story · music · places

Thank you today for the article, "about the Turabay dynasty, a family of Bedouin emirs that governed northern Palestine in the 15th–16th centuries under the Ottoman Empire. Their territory, formalized first as the 'Iqta of Turabay' then as the Sanjak of Lajjun, spanned the area between Jenin and Haifa. The long reign of the Turabays was owed to the strength of their tribe, their largely consistent loyalty to the sultan, and their success in administering and securing their sanjak. Backed by their close allies, the Ridwan and Farrukh dynasties of Gaza and Nablus, they prevented Fakhr al-Din II, the powerful Druze emir who had reduced Ottoman rule in the Levant "to a mere shadow", from conquering Palestine. These three local dynasties treated Palestine as their own dominion and, ironically, with Fakhr al-Din out of the way, the Ottomans were freed up to gradually eliminate these dynasties' power. Turabay governance finally ended in 1677. Their descendants still live in northern Palestine and Israel."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:08, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please review the sources on a quote on Vahan page

[edit]

The quote: \\\ Muslim sources record a conversation between Vahan and the Arab General Khalid ibn al-Walid before the battle of Yarmouk: Vahan: We know that it is hardship and hunger that have brought you out of your lands. We will give every one of your men 100 dinars, clothing and food if you return to your lands, For Abu Ubaydah, your general, 1,000 dinar and for your Khalifah, 'Umar, 10,000 and next year we will send you a similar amount if you vow never to return. Khalid: "It was not Hunger that brought us here. what brought us out of our lands is that we Arabs are a people who drink blood, and we are told the blood of the Romans is the sweetest of its kind, so we came to shed your blood and drink it.” Vahan: “So, we thought you came seeking what your brethren always sought (plunder, extortion, or mercenary work) but alas we were wrong. You came killing men, enslaving women, plundering wealth, destroying buildings, and seeking to drive us from our own lands.” Better people had tried to do the same but always ended up defeated (reference to the recent Persian wars). As for you, there is no lower and more despicable people—wretched, impoverished Bedouins who know nothing but poetry. Despite that, you commit injustices in your own rainless, famine-stricken nation and now ours..What havoc you have created! You ride horses not your own and wear clothes not your own. You pleasure yourselves with the young white girls of Rome and enslave them. You eat food not your own, and wrongfully fill your hands with our gold, silver, and valuable goods. Now we find you with all our possessions and the plunder you took from our co-religionists and we leave it all to you, neither asking for its return nor rebuking you. All we ask is that you leave our lands. But if you refuse, we will annihilate you!" \\\ The page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vahan_(Byzantine_commander) 75.142.254.3 (talk) 23:12, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Turabay dynasty: Turabay vs. Tarabin

[edit]

Hey! :)
I left a comment on the talk page of your very good page on the Turabay dynasty, as what is reported there also concerns the page on the History of the Negev during the Mamluk and Ottoman periods, which I recently published (also the Jenin page). Could you share your thoughts on it? On the Negev page, I’ve now included both perspectives in the main text; however, on the Turabay dynasty page, such an approach would require several edits. Hi! Thanks for the small fixes in the article. Could I also ask if you can use Zakkar to complement or correct the article? Hello Cplakidas. Thanks for creating this article and your other recent additions to the topic area. Touma, Latakia Governorate

[edit]

Thank you for adding Touma to the Latakia Governorate template. English Wikipedia doesn't have an article for it yet. If you can give me the Arabic wiki link or even the village census data, I can at least put together a proper article stub with geo coordinate map.

I want to get this done because now that Touma is on a template, more people will see and possibly click on it. I don't want someone to get confused and end up linking it to Bab Tuma in Damascus.

Anything you can offer would help immensely considering the difficulty of finding proper sources due to the conflicts in and around Syria.

RCSCott91 (talk) 16:02, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@RCSCott91: Hello. Thank you for your request. I went ahead and started Ta'uma ('Touma' was perhaps not the right transliteration). It's bare bones at the moment, as I have found very little about the place online. Al Ameer (talk) 03:59, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. You went above and beyond what I could have hoped. I understand it being a bare bones stub, it was difficult finding good sources for Syria just during the civil war but even harder now, with the regional conflict.

Hi, in this edit to Golan Heights you introduced sfn references to "Chatty 1977" and "Chatty 1994". Unfortunately no such sources are listed. This means that nobody can look the references up, and also adds the article to Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. If you could supply the missing sources it would be appreciated. I see you've supplied Chatty 1977, thank you, but Chatty 1994 is still missing. DuncanHill (talk) 13:14, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Qada Hauran

[edit]

We really need an article about Qada Hauran: presently there are a zillion red-linked Qada Hauran (-there used to be an article about it, but it was made by a sock, so it was nuked), interested? Huldra (talk) 23:57, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra: Yes. Been putting it off for years for some reason. Will try to work on one over the next few days. --Al Ameer (talk) 23:59, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Al Ameer son: If there was an article, I can get the text for you. However all I can find is a REDIR to Sanjak of Hauran that was deleted due to the latter not existing. Was there a different name, perhaps? Zerotalk 01:22, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Zero0000. I see a multiple revisions for Hauran Sanjak (it was deleted a couple times) and then redirected to Sanjak of Hauran, which was then also deleted: [4]. Do we need to restore the revisions or just pull the text and create a 'new' article? Al Ameer (talk) 03:54, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I recalled that the editor who started the Hauran article also started the Denys Pringle-article, looking throat his deleted articles I found Sanjak of Hauran (I recall I made a lot of re-dirs to that article :/); Huldra (talk) 22:46, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Al-Shaykh Badr

[edit]

On 23 November 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Al-Shaykh Badr, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that al-Shaykh Badr was the hometown of Salih al-Ali, who led the Alawite revolt against the French in Syria? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Al-Shaykh Badr. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Al-Shaykh Badr), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Khalid bin Walid

[edit]

Islamic tradition acknowledges both the military successes and controversies surrounding Khalid ibn al-Walid. Incidents such as those involving the Banu Jadhima and Malik ibn Nuwayra are indeed discussed in Islamic historical sources, but they are narrated with varying interpretations depending on the source. While some accounts emphasize Khalid's misjudgment, others attribute his actions to the complexities of war or misunderstandings. Similarly, claims of moral and fiscal misconduct during Khalid's campaigns in the Levant are part of historical debates. Although some critiques are recorded—often linked to his conflicts with Umar ibn al-Khattab—they are not universally accepted as definitive. Instead, they reflect the diverse narratives within early Islamic history and require careful contextual analysis.

With this in mind, I am concerned that the emphasis placed on Khalid’s controversial incidents on his "lead section" of the page could reflect a bias, especially given the sensitivity of these events within Islamic tradition. For instance, the matter of Banu Jadhima was resolved during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and does not constitute a lasting issue. Highlighting such incidents prominently, particularly in the introduction, can create a disproportionate focus that undermines a neutral and fair representation of Khalid’s overall contributions.

When discussing the actions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Companions, it is crucial to exercise caution and balance. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself said: "Do not revile my Companions. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, if one of you were to spend gold equal to Mount Uhud in charity, it would not amount to even a handful or half a handful (of what they did)." (Bukhari and Muslim).

Overemphasizing their mistakes without acknowledging their immense sacrifices and achievements risks creating a distorted narrative that contradicts the principles of fairness and neutrality.

II kindly urge you to reconsider how Khalid ibn al-Walid’s legacy is presented in the "Lead Section," ensuring that it adheres to Wikipedia’s neutrality guidelines while respecting the sensitivities of Islamic history. A balanced approach will foster a more accurate and respectful representation that aligns with both the historical context and diverse perspectives. I hope you understand. Thank you.
