Hi, I have updated my page as per the standards. Now I guess it should not violate any of the wikipedia policies.
Why did you delete my article on Xenocide RPG?
[edit]You claim that the article was on a web game that was not worth noting. What are the requirements to be worth noting? I've come across loads of random, pointless things on Wikipedia, and this certainly wasn't one of them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Baseballdude (talk • contribs) 17:38, 25 April 2007 (UTC).

- Hi I just went to update some information on the Christian rock band "The Wedding" until I saw that it had been deleted on the WP grounds of notability. I have looked up the CSD guidelines and seen that for a music-related band, they had to have toured at least half of the country. I happen to know that they currently tour most of the eastern United States from their hometown in Arkansas to the Eastern Seaboard. I just wanted to know what happened to it, that's all...and can it possibly be restored? Thanks again justin x. echelon 12:54, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- From a Whim was deleted unfairly and speedily while people were working on it. The band is the #1 played acoustic band in Idaho on myspace, I think that is notable enough for a band to have an entry. - yoursolastsummer 18:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
You all need to learn the concept of creating the article before posting it, at least in enough detail to include some assertions of notability and other evidence as to why it should exist; don't just put up an "Under Construction" sign. At least Echelon read the guidelines. --Orange Mike 00:49, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- What's going on here? These can't all be about unrelated articles. Leebo T/C 00:53, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- I believe that because the section title expresses their sentiments, and it is right there at the top, a number of Nawlin's non-fans tend to post their complaints up here instead of at the end of the article as they should. --Orange Mike 00:59, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
OxMetrics article Speedy delete
[edit]Dear NawlinWiki,
The OxMetrics article you deleted on April 4, 2007 on the grounds of blatant advertising contains a factual (encyclopedic) description of a well respected Econometric Software. I am sorry you dislike this contribution
This software has a new name and is not well known in the US but it is certainly important for the econometrics community world wide, where its predecessors have been used for over 20 years. There is no inappropriate content. There is no copyright violation either, because I edited the description myself.
Moreover, there are three comparable US products, GAUSS, RATS and Eviews with descriptions on Wikipedia that were not deleted. Those contributions made me think that it might be interesting to edit and OxMetrics article for Wikipedia.
If you are interested in making Wikipedia a useful and up to date encyclopedia for smaller sciences like econometrics and mathematical statistics, you should allow descriptions of scientific econometric (and statistical) softwares, old and new, US and non-US. I hope you can undelete the article and its links if your are interested in making Wikipedia an interesting resource for smaller sciences and their corresponding softwares, which are essential tools for their application.
Criterion 11 for speedy deletion:
Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group, service, or person and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company, product, group, service, or person as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion; an article that is blatant advertising should have inappropriate content as well. If a page has previously gone through a deletion process and was not deleted, it should not be speedily deleted under this criterion.
Yours Sincerely, Marius Ooms
I had contributed an article earlier today in rough form admittedly, but still with a fair amount of information on the author Skitz M. Jones Esq, and upon looking for it this afternoon to add more information to it, found it deleted. While he may not be the most widely known author, he has one book out, 2 albums released with his former band IPV, is a war veteran: awarded an Army Commendation Medal for his service, has worked as a medical escort for The Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff and the 1st Enlisted Advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, performed in many theatrical productions, been nominated to the National Honor Choir in the U.S., as well as other accolades. If all of this still leaves him a non-notable person, so be it. But I ask you to reconsider, and restore the article if you have the ability to do so.
I'm not the most familiar person with how this all works, but I still think I submitted a valuable addition.
Adam Hendrix.
This article was recently speedied by you. The author keeps removing speedy tags in spite of the full cycle of warnings. I don't want to get into a edit war on the speedies with him, could you please help out. Dipics 14:19, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Studenterlauget article
[edit]5th March 2007
Hi. Just wanted to hear your story about the Studenterlauget article you deleted. Studenterlauget is a big part of the students lifes at the ASB and I feel that its natural to include the main student organization there. Also, I found a quite comprehensive article about studentersamfundet in Norway, which in many ways resembles Studenterlauget a lot.
Well, I hope to hear from you soon. Anyways its good you guys are dealing with the legitimacy of articles and cotents.

US v Laugenour
[edit]Okay, so you can speedy delete. You say "nonnotable case, but give no link to explain. It looks like DOJ ringers have commandeered Wikipedia to keep anything substantively useful to help people understand the true nature of income tax. Here, finally, I found a current court case in which the DOJ admits by acquiescence to just a tiny few of its crimes. And you speedy delete it. Don't you think it has value to people today to know why so called tax protestors aren't protesting income tax but protest the crimes committed by the IRS, DOJ, and judges?
I want to know how to get this info from the case documents, particularly judicial notices of FACTS, posted on wikipedia. --Bob Hurt 17:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Laugenour
[edit]Dear editor NawlinWiki: Hi, I don't know if you'll remember me; it's been a while.
I noticed your reference to the deletion of the article on USA v. Laugenour, and your notes to user Bobhurt. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to read the article (I bet it was a real gem). Jut for your information, Bobhurt has been pushing nonsense about the Laugenour case off and on for the past few weeks in one form or another.
I noticed -- in an amazing coincidence -- that an anonymous user (at IP 68.200.46.69) who I believe has previously posted tax protester rhetoric on Bobhurt's user talk page also inserted "Laugenour" nonsense earlier today in the article on Income tax in the United States. I moved the material from that article over to the talk page for the article, with an explanation as to why it is a hoax. The Laugenour case itself is real, but the tax protester verbiage makes the preposterous argument that the government lawyers in that case "admitted" certain things. I had previously reviewed the case docket in that case and discovered that the argument is based on a totally laughable intepretation of the Federal Rules of Evidence -- something I had explained to Bobhurt weeks ago on another talk page. I put a similar explanation today on the talk page for Income tax in the United States.
By the way, I believe Bobhurt has also operated under the Wikipedia user name of BobHurt. Yours, Famspear 18:00, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Hasty deletion of Mark Britten

My Article on a Student
[edit]Excuse me, but you have been continuously deleting my article on a student, Aaron Hamrick, at my local college. I understand, it may not seem notable, but I assure you that the article is notable. This student is writing and publishing a highly anticipated book to come out sometime in 2009 or 2010. Many professors at our school and some local editors expect it to be very popular on the East Coast and perhaps even make a best seller list. You didn't even give me a chance to edit my article and add sources and facts before you deleted it. You've also given me a "last warning", which apparently means I cannot re-create the article unless I have your approval. Please get back to me right away on this, as I need to write this article for a small project for our school. And I request that you allow at least a week to let users develop their articles before you delete them. Thank you.

Lenny09 sockpuppet for Gerry2009?

You deleted an earlier version of Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited as an advertisement. I suspect that it was a copyvio as well. I rewrote the article, which I think now sufficiently establishes notability, and which doesn't read like an advertisement. --Eastmain 13:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

You speedily deleted this as WP:CSD#A7, "does not assert the importance or significance of its subject". I don't know if she is important, but the article used words like "very popular actress", which seems to be an assertion of importance. More specifically, the article asserts that she is known for performing in unusual films for Japan, unpixilated, with her mother, beasts, and urolagnia, which rather indicates that she might be notable. That seems to be worthy of an Wikipedia:Articles for deletion debate at least. Do I have your OK to undelete it, please? --AnonEMouse (squeak)
- OK with me to restore, but I would immediately send it to AFD. There are no sources other than her own porno site. Thanks, NawlinWiki 19:26, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

User:Wikiartwriter has recreated the page. I tagged it with prod instead of CSD because it asserts notability. Is this correct, or is this justifiably CSD under vandalism? Thanks!--Xnuala (talk) 19:43, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Why
[edit]Why did you delete my page.
Your removal of {{db-bio}} tag in the article William Cartman
[edit]I noticed that you removed the tag on the grounds that it "asserts [its] notability", as in your edit summary. Ghostly Talk
[edit]This article was speedily deleted before I was complete. The reason given is not sufficient - as this radio program's hosts have been on Coast to Coast AM - a recent experiment of note was done there indicating life after death etc. etc. This is not a group, nor a debating society, nor some simple website, nor a company promotion but in the vain of Ghost Hunters - a reality tv program - nor is it an attempt at promotion. Speedy deletion of The Gathering articles
[edit]Hi. I was in the progress of creating individual pages for The Gathering 1992 - 2007, with information about each event and full results from all the competitions. I know I hadn't come very far with the articles themselves (I had mostly consentrated on the results from the competitions), but I feel it was a wee bit early to nix them based on notability. Anyway - what kind of information do you think the articles should contain to be considered "notable"? TrondM 21:52, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of The Twilight Sad
[edit]You are mistaken. The article states that it was to "critical acclaim" but does not cite the reviews. WP:Music is clear on what constitutes notability and "critical acclaim" does not merit retention. I have placed the speedy back onto the article. If you can show which part you were making reference to when you stated "asserts notability" I will be glad to back down and take it to AFD. --Walter Görlitz 01:05, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- Never done an AFD. Won't bother to either. The criteria is multiple non-trivial published works. One review doesn't cut it. I still think you're wrong, but I'm not an admin and you seem to be set in your view. --Walter Görlitz 04:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've referenced 2 reviews of different releases by the band on the talk page. I'm unsure how to include these in the article, however, but I do believe that this band meets the notability criteria. Thanks.--Sparklism 12:17, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I clearly had the holdon tag there and another admin had already flaged it..... not to mention i put a note about the article on the discussion box that i was going to bring it up to standards shortly. read first before you go on your deleting rampages, thats a whole other 30mins im going to have to do to recreate that page now that i cant reload it.
"a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia." ---> Fraser Swim Team Head Coach.... now its not as illustrious as some other teams to be sure but there is deffinaly a reason why the subject is notable.
the quip about the personal information is factual... however this isnt a "highschool teacher or coach" or what have you, the swimming sporting structure is set up differently in canada than it is in the states so quite honestly its a well paid and important posistion..... not to mention due to coaches like Brandon Wiggins in the region our local teams have produced a handfull of olympic medalists and hopefulls, except i didnt have the time to put that in my page because you deleted it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Isil lome elda (talk • contribs) 00:30, 15 April 2007

AfD nomination of Buxton Festival Fringe
[edit]An editor has nominated Buxton Festival Fringe, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buxton Festival Fringe and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. --Eastmain 20:11, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

- the first software stack for multi-core CPUs
- a contributor of BSD and Linux kernels

Deletion of "The Pam Ham"
[edit]NawlinWiki, This article (deleted by yourself on the 9th April) was already tagged by other wikipedians and was in the process of being improved. It was clearly stated to be released on DVD and on the contrary to your comment, I did not make it up, I was simply posting a filmwork perhaps not known where you are but known by over a hundred people in Glasgow. I ask you kindy to repost this article as it is NOT advertising anything as it provides no price or where to buy the DVD. Yours Sincerly, Craig. --Craigmaclean888 13:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Edit: No, I'm not her brother Chris. His name is "Micheal Christopher Hurst", and goes by "Chris". My name is a play on words. See The Hurst --> CDHurst.
Good job on assuming, though.
Besides which, you still never addressed why you would out-and-out delete the post, after another Moderator said it could stay, until I could edit it. Is undermining fellow staff members the norm around here? Or is this a Nawlin only rule?

Scanned maps of Sydney
[edit]Hi, I have noticed that you deleted some of the maps that I uploaded. These were the old fashion maps of Sydney, I have recently recieved confirmation from Gregorys saying that is ok to put them back on the websight, there were some conditions though.
The two gregorys logos had to be displayed with the maps. I think the logos wouldn't be shown in the actual article but on the page that the image is stored on. Whats your appinion on this. Also below is the message I recieved from the company with names nad numbers provided. Thanks. Mindys12345 06:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Good afternoon Adam,
I have checked with sensis regarding the copyright for the maps on the website. There is no problems in using the maps for your website provided that you have the whereis and gregorys logo on both maps.
I have attached the whereis and gregorys logo.

Richard McBeef
[edit]How could you possibly think that Richard McBeef is not notable, first of all. Second, posting the entire text of the play does not violate any copyright, because there is no copyright on it!!! It is a play draft written by a 20 something year old boy for a college assignment. He did not copyright it nor has TheSmokingGun.com or any other website, because he wrote it, not The Smoking Gun. What is your problem!?!?!
Also, I have not vandalized any pages! And when I reinstated that page after you sent a message after deleting it, I had not read your message yet!

From a Whim
[edit]Hello,
I wanted to know why From a Whim was speedily deleted.
First off, they're the first site that comes up when you google "From a Whim", without or without quotes.
Second off, if you were to go on Myspace and check the top artists of Idaho, they are the #1 most played acoustic band in Idaho. They are also in the top 10 of the most played bands in Idaho. I think this is enough to say they are notable. I just wanted to state that I fully disagree with the removal and Lamoni was not the only contributor.
Thank you

Blurpinkle the Color
[edit]You did a 'speedy deletion' for 'non notability' on an article I was writing for the term 'blurpinkle' before I was even able to site all my references which include, meet, and exceed wikipedia's notability guidelines. Please do NOT 'speedy delete' articles while they are being worked on as sometimes it takes some time to include all the proper sitations. Reading your page I can see you have a history of doing this and while I do think it is good to have people making sure good articles are included rather than rubbish, it's not good for wikipedia or for any knowledge base in general to jump the gun and delete articles in progress that DO have notability and worthwhile informative value. Kindly rethink your quick 'deletions'.
I added some references to the article about Anand Jain. Could you please revisit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anand Jain? --Eastmain 05:46, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
While I wouldn't have protested this deletion (especially since I hadn't gone back to fix up the copyright information of the seal jpg itself), I was amazed at how quick the speedy deletiong was. I usually check my messages once a day and didn't see the notice on my talk page until after it was deleted. Looks like it was within the hour. Is that the intent of "speedy?" Unless it is terribly agregious, I expected a longer time to respond. (John User:Jwy talk) 18:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Trfccurt
[edit]Hey, there. :) User:Trfccurt contacted unblock-en-l, yesterday -- you may remember him as having created such gems as Miffa_is_gay and Scott_tate. They claim the first was made as a joke, and they learned their lesson, but the second page was created by someone else when they accidentally left their account logged in. Normally I'd dismiss this story out of hand, but it does look like they made a few decent edits, otherwise, and they're asking a few days after the fact, so I thought I'd run it past you for an opinion. How much good faith are we willing to assume, here? – Luna Santin (talk) 21:18, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh No They Didn't
[edit]First of all, how is a community of 50,000 members not notable? ONTD is reliable source of information and one that deserves a Wikipedia article. I was in the middle of editing the page. I'm new to creating articles and wanted to save it as I was going away from the computer. There was an Under Construction notice and I left it up for other members to edit as they wish. There was a given time of an hour between the creation of the page and your deletion of it, that's surely a "speedy deletion" but an unfair one as well. From the looks of other peoples comments, it seems that you make a habit of deleting things at will. And frankly, it's a major turnoff for new users such as myself to begin using Wikipedia more avidly and use the site as it was intended. As far as I can tell, it's entirely appropriate to create a Wikipedia article to document a website or blog for its "acheivments, impact, and historical significance," but how can I display that if you delete it before I'm given a chance? It's rude and an abuse of power. Uberlegit 21 April 2007
It was obviously under construction and I wasn't given ample opportunity to give additional sources. I'm not going through the effort of reposting an article just to have it deleted again, you pretty much scared me off of that. I just wanted to add myself to the list of people who had articles prematurely deleted. Uberlegit 3:26, 22 April 2007

Deletion of Race War Kingdoms
[edit]Hello, I'll start by saying that you seem to delete a lot of pages, and perhaps hastily. I cannot understand why you think an article about a game that gives out thousands of USDollars in monthly prizes, hundreds of players, peak user count of 100+, etc. is 'nonnotable'. Please, do some reasearch on the game. I ask that you defend your reasoning for deletion of the article. Barring adequate reply, I will nominate the page for deletion review. Thank you. [edit]Thanks for changing all those speedies to prods - I got a little carried away with the tagging. It seemed like every professor at the University was getting an article! Hawker Typhoon 21:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
I've reponded to the prods by adding additional facts and some sources.
I understand that some contributions you see may not be selective but the concerns raised about every other professor getting an article are way overstated. There are 2500 faculty at FSU. I have not written that many articles and have focused on the highest profile contributors particularly in the sciences. All of these are nationally and internally acclaimed and I've focused on these. Most are ISI highly cited ((among the top 1% in the U.S. or NAS, NAE, AAA&S fellows, which are extremely pretigious and wouldn't be there without the significant accomplishments I describe.) I've included hard facts in all of these and avoided puffery. I also responded to concerns raised on the FSU web site that folks were linking http sites rather than wiki articles. Then, when researching items on wiki, I saw than many less significant profs at other universities, including more prestigious universities, have wiki sites so why not these?
One thing demands immediate attention: Stephan von Molnar, a Humbolt fellow, tagged for speedy deletion? Come on. This 25 year IBM research is a significant international figure in the physics of nano-magnetism (making the smallest possible particles with magnetic properties), which is widely used in magnetic storage devices today. For Wiki top give this speedy deletion is just silly.
Thanks for all you are doing to ensure quality. I am doing the best I can with my spare time, knowledge and limited resources but these entries are not just self-promotion or puffery. They descrinbe real and noteworthy research contributions.
Wonder Spot

Deletion of Category:Pokémon images without a Fair-use rationale
[edit]I understand it is normal procedure to delete empty categories, however there are MANY occurences where users unfamiliar with policies upload pokemon related images without a rationale. This category allows members of the project to keep an eye on images that they personally don't feel satisfy fair use, but are waiting to see if the original uploader is willing to supply one. I'd like to ask that you restore the category as one necessary for encyclopedic maintenance. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 20:09, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- thanks! there used to exist templates that put images in this category, but they were recently deleted... depending on the results of a deletion review, hopefully this category will be repopulated, and if not, then i'll request a speedy delete myself -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 15:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
List of people drowned in vomit
[edit]Hi, I saw you deleted the recreated List of people drowned in vomit. As much as I hate this article, recreation is allowed since it's a deleted prod. I will go straight to AFD if it gets recreated again though. :) Garion96 (talk) 15:29, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Was this perchance created/recreated by the same guy who's populating Category: Deaths from rectal trauma? --Orange Mike 19:06, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Freeholder AfDs
[edit]I just want to give you a heads up on a potential case of WP:DEADHORSE in some AfD's I initiated regarding some Atlantic County, NJ officeholders.
I nominated the Alisa Cooper, Frank Finnerty, Joe Kelly (Freeholder), and Sue Schilling pages for AfD. All but the Alisa Cooper page were previously up for AfD as part of a blanket AfD for Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders in August. The AfDs then were either a No Consensus, or Keep, based on how soon the articles were re-nominated.
When I nominated these pages again last week, based on no sign of improvement in the articles and WP:BIO, the discussion quickly got out of hand. The Frank Finnerty discussion, which closed this evening, has now spread to the Joe Kelly and Sue Schilling discussions.
The two sides basically dug in immediately, and trench warfare was the result. There can be no winners here. Just exhausted and disillusioned participants.
It's still (mostly) civil, but we're beating on bones here now. DarkAudit 03:27, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
