2020 Daytona Grand Prix moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 2020 Daytona Grand Prix, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Nice Stories, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. Important Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in pseudoscience and fringe science. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Your draft article, Draft:2020 Daytona Grand Prix

[edit]

Hello, Nice Stories. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2020 Daytona Grand Prix".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 02:46, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article ShinyHunters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is not something you would find on Wikipedia.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Daniel Kinahan

[edit]

Hi, I reverted your edit at Daniel Kinahan as the cited source reads that "has fled Dubai" rather than "has fled to Dubai". Perhaps the phrasing wasn't clear enough, but it meant that he had fled from Dubai. Perhaps adding "from" to the current phrasing would make that a little clearer. NFT history wildly wrong, please help

[edit]

Hi. I saw that you recently edited the "NFT" article and am seeking your help to correct some promotional suppression activity that has gone on there.

You see, the first NFT project ever was Etheria.world, deployed in October 2015. This information is verifiable on the blockchain itself (ultimate, mathematical truth) but is also noted in this RS Techcrunch article (towards the bottom): https://techcrunch.com/2021/04/08/the-cult-of-cryptopunks/

Problem is there are other later projects that have built their brand around being "first" and have continually deleted all mentions of Etheria from NFT Wikipedia entry's History section.

There are other big problems with the article: colored coins are literally fungible (the opposite of NFT), for one thing. This means that all early trading card mentions (which were, technically, just ERC-20-like coins with many copies) shouldn't even be in the entry. Anil Dash/Kevin McCoy's experiment is a legit cryptoart "pointer" NFT with on-chain metadata, but was not a "project" like Etheria, Kitties, Punks, etc. It deserves a mention, IMO, but Etheria is clearly the first NFT "project" by almost 2 years.

Would you be able to help set the record straight? Christie's and Cryptopunks have a major auction coming up on May 13 where they are going to claim "first" project and the Wikipedia entry should reflect the truth for anyone seeking it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by User5109nfsaln (talkcontribs) 19:15, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Virtual crime subsection at Roblox

[edit]

Hello,

I've reverted your addition of a subsection about virtual crime at the Roblox page. I believe you added it in good faith, but it may not be WP:DUE to go into detail about every individual instance of virtual crime reported over the years.

The various sources demonstrate that it is due to describe the phenomenon of simulated crime on Roblox, but given that this article is about Roblox itself, it is not due to dedicate an excessive amount of space detailing any one incident of it unless a single instance of virtual crime garnered a lot of attention on its own.

It's better to more generally describe virtual crime somewhere else in the article.

I hope you'll understand. Thank you,

Howdy! Concerning the use of promotional/public relations perspectives in technology pages

[edit]

I appreciate your enthusiasm in editing technology-related pages, but I feel many edits of yours err on the side of inserting the views of self-promotional ladder climbers (like Matthew Ball on the metaverse) and other problematic sources that lack an appropriate encyclopedic perspective if inserted uncritically. The example I bring here is Matthew Ball, a technology blogger and self-described "metaverse expert" who is transparently fixated on the promotion and growth of metaverses and metaverse companies at large. In a New York Times article that covered the various perspectives around metaverses, you singled out Ball's judgements on what constitutes marketing language and inserted Ball's perspective by a lede segment that elaborated on the use of "metaverse" as a buzzword. Putting the vapid and unelaborated ramblings of a tech evangelist in the lede of the page is very undue, and happens to be a great example of edit creep. Please keep your edits a single, productive unit of change on a page and not something to mop up afterwards. Mewnst (talk) 22:58, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Like is there something wrong with it? Nice Stories (talk) 15:33, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't answer the question "What is copyright?" and most of it is incorrect. — Diannaa (talk) 19:25, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright is a type of ittilectrial property that gives its owner the exclusive right to copy or distribute a creative work. Copyright is designed to protect the original Creative expression of an idea in a creative work but not said idea. Copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations such as the fair use doctrine. On Wikipedia there is permission to modify, copy, or distribute Wikipedia's text under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License and, if noted, the GNU Free Documentation, unversioned, with no invariant sections, back cover texts, or front-cover texts. Can I have a temporary block instead?

[edit]

Yeah, I noticed I was indefinitely blocked for copyright concerns and I didn't notice that was issue until today. I am curious can I have my ban expire in like 6 months to 2 years from now on the promise I will never do it again or I get permanently banned? Also I barely check on talk page and I promise to regularly use it if I get reinstated. Nice Stories (talk) 15:02, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Actually Nevermond Nice Stories (talk) 15:11, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, "indefinite" is not "permanent". It just means that it will run until there is a successful appeal Nosebagbear (talk) 15:59, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Nice Stories (talk) 02:45, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I did not see your unblock request, sorry about that. In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. Please respond to the following questions, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked.— Diannaa (talk) 20:18, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As a result of concerns regarding copyright violations in your edits, I have opened Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Nice Stories, which has been filled out with your edits in order to review them for copyright issues. Contributor copyright investigations can stay open for long periods of time due to a large current backlog and low number of volunteers. Participation in the investigation, such as providing guidance for which edits you copied from your sources, can help expedite the process. Yeah I am curious can this lead to a parament ban? Nice Stories (talk)

No, the investigation will not lead to a block on you- it's based on your past edits, which you were already blocked and unblocked for- there's not need to block you for anything found there, it's already been adressed. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌵CCI guide 21:01, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please take more care with your edits

[edit]

Hi there, I came across one of your edits yesterday which was poorly written almost to the point of being unintelligible, as well as completely unsourced. Unfortunately, this seems to be somewhat common among your edits: more than half of the time when you are adding a sentence or more, there are multiple errors in what you're writing (often, you do not even use full sentences, capitalization, and correct spelling, and the tone of your writing is usually far too informal for an encyclopedia).

You seem to be really good at making changes like updates to existing text, sometimes things that I don't know how to do yet! So I am definitely not trying to accuse you of not contributing properly. That being said, there are numerous errors to correct from inserting text that you did not seem to preview before submitting, and most importantly, statements which are just your viewpoint and not sourced to any references are bad for the encyclopedia. I'd ask that you take more care when making changes, especially when you're adding original writing of your own, and to *always* cite a Reliable Source if you are adding new information or ideas to an article. Thanks, and happy editing! Chiselinccc (talk) 14:52, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
