Trying to Make Minor Changes

[edit]

Re: Gurunath article. Understand why it is reverting. However, just trying to make minor changes to the text. There is a spelling mistake and a sentence which can be made less confusing for the reader.213.106.1.25 08:12, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that Wikipedia doesn't bowdlerize profanity in this kind of case (this is a direct quote). The is the 2nd time that the bot has done so. Please revert to include the correct quote, which does contain profanity.

jump from test1 to test4 too harsh?

[edit]

Does anyone else think that the jump from test1 to test4 might be a bit too harsh? Personally, I think that the bot should use some variation of test3 in between. --Ixfd64 21:04, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wayne Rooney

[edit]

Someone reverted some vandalism on Rooney and you obviously worked on it at the same time. Thus the bot accidentally put the vandalism back. I removed it again and the bot reverted me. General Studies (A Level)

[edit]

I recently edited an article on 'General Studies (A Level)' as the information that i wrote when I had created it was no longer relevent. Your bot works well however it reported my edit as vandalism. I would appreciate it if you could possibly sort this out. Thankyou.

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Manila Light Rail Transit System. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Tawkerbot2 appears to have broken 3RR on Leet. I dont think it should be allowed to do this - would it be possible to limit it to 3R/24h? In fact even rv'ing more than once seems dodgy William M. Connolley 19:51, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My edits to Puffkins

[edit]

I reverted ancient, year old vandalism to this article, it being essentially a page to promote a myspace band, when it should be about the toyline from Swibco. I was contacted by the bot that reverted the edit I made, which was essentially a fix to the article. Ryulong 05:20, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Banning Users

[edit]

Do you actually do anything to stop vandals, or do you just repeatedly revert their posts? I'm asking because you put a friendly warning on a vandal's talk page, when he should be handled by an administrator. I accidently spelled "redirect" wrong while attempting re-direct the page to the new one. The reason for doing so is because the article was named "Visual C++ Express", when the official name, as well as the other Express Edition products, have "Express" on the end of them -- just cleaning it up to make it consistent with the others. I hope it clears this up, and remove the warning from my UserTalk page, thanks! HarroSIN 05:45, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hempfield Area School District Schools

Tawkerbot2: The elementary and middle schools that were listed in this category had been put up for prod. I couldn't argue with their lack of notability, but what I did do was merge them onto the Hempfield Area School District page. If they are later expanded and their notability affirmed, the pages can always be filled out. As a result of the action, however, the Category:Hempfield Area School District Schools is now virtually empty. I don't see a good reason to retain it, unless you object. Mistaken revert

[edit]

I don't know if there's a way to fix what led to this edit being reverted without making it miss real vandalism, but I thought I'd let you know just in case. It clearly thought that I was trying to blank the article due to my mass deletion of content (if what that "article" has can be called "content"... In case it gets speedily deleted before you see this, it was nothing more than the name of the article repeated over and over and over again. I left a few lines of it as example for why it should be speedily deleted, but removed most of it while I was adding the speedy deletion template).

Also: for the message left on talk pages, you might want to make it so it adds a ==Headline== of some kind before its comment, for those of us who like to keep our talk pages nicely organized. --Icarus 19:17, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tawker/Tawkerbot(2). I noticed that the summary generated does not contain a diff-link. However there are typically two links to the main page of the changed/reverted page. One in the headline and one in the first sentence. I think to exchange one of those for a diff-link would be a good idea. It would save recent change patrollers a few clicks. Also this would allow the anonymous user insight into what happened as they might be unfamiliar with Wikipedia. Here's an idea of how this might look like (taken from this example):

 • What it looks like now:

Your edit to Malcolm Glazer
Your recent edit to Malcolm Glazer ...
Your recent edit to Malcolm Glazer ...

 • What it might look like with a added diff-link:

"Vandalism"???

[edit]

Ok, so i changed the chris moyles page. It quotes him saying its about f**** time" and i changed it to "its about fuc*ing time" (i put in the "k" in the edit) and i feel that is better. This site is for everyone, and if someone needed that quote, they couldn't use it and use this site as a source. For one thing, there isn't the correct amount of "*" and second of all a quote should be an exact representation of what they said.

Hello Tawker!

Your very zealous bot reverted and edit as vandalism :) It was just one line introducing an "ASIN" number.

DMT page

[edit]

On the DMT page, there is a lyric from a Tool song that is supposedly inspired, at least in part, by DMT. The lyrics say "The blotter got On top of me/ Got me seeing E mother-f*cking T." The entry on Wikipedia blocked the "mother f*cking" which I find to be ridiculous. It says "E-(omitted)-T" which is very unclear when stated as it is. I thought it may have omitted another letter and it made no sense to me. In my opinion, censorship of such an informational website is the opposite of knowledge propagation. Wikipedia is here to share and spread knowledge, not withhold it from people. Furthermore, virtually every person knows the work "f*ck," knows what it means, and has used it at some point in their lives, and most likely at many points in their lives. This is why I find the autocorrection by this bot to be inappropriate.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

[edit]

Dear Tawker,

I re-wrote the MBSR article based on a message I received. After saving it, I found a second message regarding including links to "commercial" sites that do not contain "content". Since I've been putting my "content" into Wikipedia, and not my website, I've decided I've taken a wrong turn. I will put my content on my own site and you can decide if you want to link to it or not. FYI, I originally wrote the "Jon Kabat-Zinn" article which is largely unchanged from what I had first written.

In any case, I wish to take out all information on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and if someone else would like to write the material, that's ok by me.

aol common ip adress

[edit]

I dont really understand this. Where do I get more information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.93.21.34 (talkcontribs)

(I can't spell, so bear with me) Do you know what an IP adress is? It's a kind of 'linscence plate' of the internet. They follow you everywhere so that you can be blocked from sites if you need to be. They can also tell people where you are. Most of the time, IP adresses stay 'static', meaning that they don't change. If you get new internet access they might, but for the most part they don't change. AOL is different, however. Every time you load a page, AOL assigns you a different IP adress. So you may recieve a warning for something that you didn't do because someone else was using that IP adress at some point or another. That's why getting a username is good, because then you can use it instead of your IP adress. Hope this helps; 69.145.123.171 Hello!

Tawkerbot2 - Clone?

[edit]
I left this on your (Tawker's) talk page but didn't know if it was the right place to leave it so I am posting here as well.

I was just wondering if you are still 'looking' for another person to host Tawkerbot2? If so, I'd be interested in giving it a go, if possible for both me and you. I had a few questions which I hope you'd have time to answer even if you don't need another host for Tawkerbot2.

 1. What are the specifications for running the bot? For example, operating system – I know a lot of bots these days are only Windows or Linux compatible for example.
 2. What programs are required for running the bot?
 3. I'm not incredibly clever with the technical side of things, so what other kind of things are needed and are they all free?
 4. Would the clone be capable of running simultaneously with Tawkerbot2? That is to say, if the two are reverting at the same time (Tawkerbot2 getting some vandalisms, and the clone getting the others), would they work well or would this produce malfunctioning, for example the clone reverting Tawkerbot2?

Thanks, — FireFox 19:01, 12 June '06

Edits outside of namespace

[edit]

Just a suggestion, but whenever AVB or TB2 revert changes to a category, they leave a heading formatted like this

"==Your edits to ==",

which of course adds that user to

,

rather than warning them off, that should probably be altered so it adds the : in front of 'category'--64.12.117.5 18:22, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revert my revert on WWE Divas

[edit]

I recently reverted what I felt was deserving to be reverted in the article WWE Divas. Diff:

THE WWE DIVAS OF TODAY ARE STRONG, ENTERGETIC, AND SEXY. WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY SINCE THE DAYS OF FABULOUS MOOLAH AND BERTHA FAYE. NOW WE HAVE DIVAS LIKE TRISH STRATUS, TORRIE WILSON, MICKIE JAMES, AND ASHLEY MASSARO.

- - ---- - - == MICKIE JAMES == - MICKIE JAMES IS THE CURRENT WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPION. SHE WON HER FIRST TITLE ON APRIL 2, 2006 BETTER KNOWN AS WRESTLEMANIA 22. SHE CAME INTO THIS BUSINESS AS A CRAZED STARSTRUCK FAN OF TRISH STRATUS THE FORMER WOMENS CHAMPION. EVERYTHING WAS GOING GREAT. MICKIE WAS VERY INFACTUATED WITH TRISH. SHE GAVE HER A KISS UNDER THE MISTLETOE AND CORNERED HER IN THE SHOWER. MICKIE STARTED A FEUD WITH THE 2005 DIVA SEARCH WINNER ASHLEY AND DEFEATED HER AT THE ROYAL RUMBLE. ASHLEY CALLED MICKIE PSYCHO IN FRONT OF THE LIVE AUDIENCE THE NEXT DAY AND THAT IS WHEN MICKIE SNAPPED. AT THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER BATTLE ROYAL IN FEBRUARY 2006 MICKIE PUSHED ASHLEY OUT OF THE RING AND BROKE HER LEG. ASHLEY WAS OUT OF ACTION FOR A FEW MONTHS. CANDICE MICHELLE WON THE MATCH. THE NEXT WEEK TRISH DEFENDED HER TITLE AGAINST CANDICE AND WON. MICKIE CELEBRATED BY GIVING HER IDOL A HUG AND STUCK HER HEAD IN A PLACE THAT MADE TRISH SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT SHE PUSHED HER OFF. THE FOLLOWING WEEK TRISH TOLD MICKIE THAT SHE HAS HAD ENOUGH AND TOLD MICKIE THAT SHE NEEDED HER SPACE. THE NEXT MONDAY TRISH FINDS HER TAG TEAM PARTNER TORRIE WILSON FOUND UNCONSCIOUS ON THE GROUND. WHILE TRISH WAS GETTING INTERVIEWED MICKIE SAID THAT SHE WILL HELP TRISH AND THAT THIS WAS THE LAST TIME. THAT SATURDAY AT SATURDAY NIGHTS MAIN EVENT IT WAS TRISH STRATUS AND MICKIE JAMES VS. CANDICE MICHELLE AND VICTORIA. TRISH DIDNT TAG IN MICKIE ONCE AND WON THE MATCH AFTER THE MATCH. MICKIE TOLD HER THAT SHE WANTED TO SAY GOODBYE THE PROPER WAY AND TRIED TO GIVE TRISH A KISS. WHEN TRISH REJECTED THE KISS MICKIE CHICK KICKED TRISH RIGHT IN THE TEMPLE. MICKIE THEN PLEDGED THAT SHE WAS GONNA BREAK TRISH. THE FOLLOWING WEEK MICKIE WAS IN A ROOM WITH A TRISH SHRINE AROUND HER. SHE RIPPED TRISH AND TOLD HER THAT AT WRESTLEMANIA NOT ONLY WAS SHE GONNA WALK OUT THE WOMENS CHAMPION SHE WAS HOPING FOR TRISH'S DESTRUCTION. THE MONDAY BEFORE WRESTLEMANIA 22 MICKIE GAVE TRISH A LITTLE PRESENT. IT WAS ASHLEY GAGGED AND TIED TO A CHAIR. MICKIE WALKED INTO WRESTLEMANIA WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE AND WALKED OUT WITH ONE ALSO AND WITH THE GOLD AROUND HER WAIST SHE WAS UNSTOPPABLE. MONDAY APRIL 3, 2006 MICKIE CAME OUT TO THE RING DRESSED EXACTLY AS TRISH AND WAS ACTING LIKE HER. TRISH WAS NOT HAPPY BUT MICKIE KEPT APPLYING PRESSURE TO THAT LEG OF TRISH'S. THE NEXT FEW WEEKS TRISH WAS COMING OUT TO THE RING INTIMIDATING MICKIE AND DRESSING LIKE HER. MICKIE WENT BACK TO HERSELF A WEEK BEFORE BACKLASH BUT TRISH WAS STILL PLAYING MIND GAMES WITH MICKIE. TRISH WON THE MATCH AT BACKLASH BY DQ AND DISLOCATED HER SHOULDER. THE WEEKS WHILE HER ARM WAS IN A CAST WAS HARD FOR TRISH. BUT WHEN A STRANGE WOMEN NAMED BETH PHOENIX CAME OUT AND SAVED TRISH FROM BEING CHOKED BY MICKIE. FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS TRISH WAS HELPING BETH GET BACK AT MICKIE. AFTER A MATCH WITH VICTORIA BETH BROKE HER JAW AND IS OUT OF THE BUSINESS FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. TRISH MADE HER FULL RECOVERY AND WENT AGAINST MICKIE FOR HER TITLE ON THE JUNE 26 EDITION OF RAW AND LOST WITHIN TWO MINUTES WHAT IS IN STORE FOR THIS WOMENS CAREER... Tawkerbot2 instantly reverted my revert. Should this have happened, or do you need to modify the bot's code?

Huh!?

The Tawkerbot2 framed me for posting what I am interested in on the fields of interest G-J did I vandalize by posting my user name too many areas on that page? I didn't mean to vandalize I just wanted people to know what my interests are.

Cesar Santander article

[edit]

Thanks for keeping vandalism from perpetuating on the Wiki. Your bot retreived an article that needed to be removed by its creator. As the creator, I was previously asked by an editor of the Hyperreality artcle to create an original article "Hyperrealism Painting" (regarding the extension of that particular philosophy in the the art field, whithin which I have great familiarity) from which I linked several smaller definitive biographical sketch articles on individual art practitioners of hyperrealism painting who helped define the movement in the last several years. In error, the article Cesar Santander was precipitously created for further editing, going up too fast without the subject practitioner actually understanding the category, and ending up only as an extension of his commercial website. To avoid an appearance of self promotion, we needed to remove the article and title reference at this point until more background work was performed. With the above in mind, please regard the removal of the article title and article in its entirety as appropriate, and facilitate the same at your convenience, thanks. 18:19 5 July 2006 Gootaga

[edit]

I made a perfectly legitimate change to the Pelvis Wesley potential deletion page and it gave me this insulting "vandalism" message. He is a very real author and I was extremely disappointed the page was going to be deleted when I'm a big fan of his, and even MORE disappointed that I was accused of "vandalism." [edit]

The above IP editor is correct; Wikipedia is not censored for minors. -- Avi 21:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a known weakness of the bot. Many, many vandalisms involve common profanity, so the bot alerts on them, and has no easy way to differentiate the vandalistic uses from the small number of legit uses of profanity. The thing that puzzles me is why ABV, which was the bot in question here, got into an edit war over this with the user, reverting the user over and over. I thought that the bots were not supposed to edit war like this. Looking at the TB2 home page, it appears that AVB would have to be running in angry mode for this to happen. Can this be checked, and if so, is there a specific reason that the bot is running in angry mode currently? I really hope it is not being left in angry mode all the time. - TexasAndroid 21:26, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the time, debates are just blanked. Sometimes people use closing templates, but that is generally done when it is on a single subpage, instead of a day page. There really isn't any consistency. Xoloz and Tony blank them, and they are some of the most prolific closers.
Also, I'm certain I wouldn't be reverting like this. The edit summary says it is reverting vandalism by an IP, but it is reverting it being reverting. Then the bot reverts to keep the vandalism, fun stuff. Kotepho 04:35, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anti vandalism revert report - IP address is shared

I'm not sure from the FAQ, etc if you want to know about this, but here goes:

I got a message on a page I viewed that said my edit to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre_Dame_High_School_%28Sherman_Oaks%29 was reverted, and identifying me as "User talk:66.245.192.13".

I know nothing about the page referred to, and certainly didn't edit it.

This is probably the result of my IP address changing depending on the whim of my ISP, dslextreme.com.

If it helps you to know that this IP address is shared, you're welcome. If this is a waste of your time, I apologize.

Thanks for your work on Wikipedia.

I keep adding breaks to the end of a timeline, which is a template, so that the section after it actually appears below them instead of to the right. However, the bot keeps reverting my breaks. Maybe there is another way to do this besides adding tons of breaks, but I am not aware of it. Anyways, it'd be nice if my edits would actually stick instead of being reverted right away. How can I fix it? -67.175.191.238 06:17, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anti Vandal Bot is vandalising good edits to the above! Tyrenius 20:54, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please revert the deletion of my addition to the Israel Lobby.

[edit]

I have tried to add a small paragragh to the Critisism section of the Israel Lobby article but people or bot keeps erasing it. This is a good faith addition. Please re-instate or explain to me why it is not accepted. If it is not accepted I will bring this topic a few levels higher in Wikipedia.

BOT revert

Tawker, This is not vandalism. Can you please check into it? - Ganeshk (talk) 01:32, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?

[edit]

I recently received this message from Tawkerbot2:

"Your recent edit to Neo-Marxism was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept our apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Click here for frequently asked questions about the bot and this warning. // Tawkerbot2 14:51, 25 April 2006 (UTC)"

I have not made any edits to the Neo-Marxism page. I have made very few edits on Wikipedia. The only pages I have edited are the Manic Street Preachers page and the KT Tunstall page, and even then only on one or two occasions. Clearly a mistake has been made.

Having read the FAQ, I see that "Tawkerbot2" makes mistakes. I just thought I should notify you of one of them.

Legit edit to The Shizz

I was warned for this edit, which was legit. I'll see about editing it again. Wyatt Riot 15:55, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vancouver Aquarium

[edit]

I mentioned the fact that the above facility is looking to replace their dead orca with a HEALTHY one taken from the wild and it was taken out of the text. Why? I wasn't being abusive, just stating a fact. Is it employees of the Aquarium who contribute to that page or what because it all seems too good to be true to me. Why do animals keep dying there? Why are many animal welfare charities campaigning to get the place shut? I realise that Vancouver Aquarium would like to portray itself as perfect - but it isn't - and the public should be aware of this before deciding to visit the place. Freedom of Speech is dead and buried it seems, even on the internet.

Umm, I see NO bot edits in the last page of history, what edit are you talking about? FYI TB2 is a bot, it's fully automated and no human made a judgement call when it would have reverted. -- Tawker 06:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
