Back-formation from κυκλοφορ(ία) (kyklofor(ía), circulation) + (). The sense of the ancient mediopassive κυκλοφορέομαι (kuklophoréomai) was revolve.[1] By surface analysis, κυκλο- (kyklo-, circle (κύκλος)) +‎ -φορώ (-foró, grade of verb φέρω)
