[edit]Inherited from Classical Mongolian ᠲᠣᠯᠢ
ᠪᠢᠴᠢᠭ (toli bičig, “dictionary”, literally “mirror book”), which was both a semantic loan from Literary Chinese 鑑 (jiàn, “mirror; dictionary”), and a calque of Manchu ᠪᡠᠯᡝᡴᡠ
ᠪᡳᡨᡥᡝ (buleku bithe, “dictionary”, literally “mirror book”).
