Etymology

Deemed with such a shape borrowed from Aramaic כּוּרְסְיָא / ܟܘܪܣܝܐ (kursəyā). Compare Biblical Hebrew כִּסֵּא (kisséʔ), Ugaritic 𐎋𐎒𐎜 (ksủ /⁠kussīʾu⁠/) and Akkadian 𒄑𒄖𒍝 (kussûm). Ultimately from Sumerian 𒄑𒄖𒍝 (g̃ešgu-za /⁠guza⁠/, chair).
