[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀣𑁄𑀕 (thoga, “a little”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit स्तोक (stoká, “drop, dot”).[1] Cognate with Punjabi ਥੋੜਾ (thoṛā), Gujarati થોડું (thoḍũ), Marathi थोडे (thoḍe), Bengali থোড়া (thōṛa), Sylheti ꠕꠥꠠꠣ (túṛa).

- It is not the case that she bought it, but instead she sold it.
Usage notes
[edit]Only the feminine form थोड़ी (thoṛī) can be used as the emphasised negation.
