Etymology

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀮𑁂𑀤𑀺 (ledi), adapted from 𑀮𑀳𑁂𑀤𑀺 (lahedi) by analogy with 𑀤𑁂𑀤𑀺 (dedi, give), 𑀡𑁂𑀤𑀺 (ṇedi, take), from Sanskrit लभते (labhate). Cognate with Nepali लिनु (linu).
