Dutch
[edit]Etymology
[edit]First attested with certainty as amspen in 1302. Etymology uncertain. Perhaps derived from Proto-Germanic *Amsanô (a hydronym) with -n- suffix. The element heem (“home, settlement”) is not evident from older forms of the toponym and etymologies built around it must be rejected.
Pronunciation
[edit]Proper noun
[edit]Ampsen n
- A hamlet in Lochem, Gelderland, Netherlands
