Etymology

[edit]

From Medieval Latin Līthuānia f, from Proto-Slavic *Litъva f, from Old Lithuanian Lietuva f.

It has been speculated that the name comes from the rivulet Lietauka,[1] although archeological evidence does not corroborate this hypothesis.
