[edit]Perhaps equivalent to *ɛ́- (“nominalizing prefix”) + *kʊ̃̀ (“to growl”). Compare with Khana kuè, Igbo agụ, Westermann proposes the root ultimately comes from Proto-Atlantic-Congo *-gui-.
