Albanian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Latin āēr (“air”), ultimately derived from Ancient Greek ἀήρ (aḗr, “air”). Topalli posits Italian aria (“air”) as another possible source, considering that the Latin term is already (potentially) borrowed into Albanian as erë (“wind, air, smell”); alternatively, it is a doublet.[1]
