[edit]Inherited from Old Polish bób, from Proto-Slavic *bobъ. Cognate with Czech bob, Bulgarian боб (bob), and Russian боб (bob). More distantly related with Hungarian bab, Romanian bob, Yiddish באָב (bob), and Finnish papu.
