If you were planning to go skating this weekend at The Forks or the Assiniboine Park Duck Pond, you will need to change your plans.

Both ice surfaces have been temporarily closed due to the warm weather that has taken over the city.

The Forks said the skating rinks and trails have been closed with no timeline for when they will reopen, noting it all depends on the weather.

As well, Assiniboine Park posted on X that warm weather has closed the Rile Family Duck Pond.

"An update will be provided when conditions improve and we are able to safely re-open," the post reads.

As of 5:30 p.m., Winnipeg was sitting at 2 C, with the temperature set to drop to -3 C overnight.

Daytime highs will stay relatively warm compared to normal for this time of year until Wednesday when the high is supposed to be -12 C around to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
