Award-winning journalist and founder and CEO of her digital consulting firm, Adriana Lacy, paid a virtual visit to Ms. Katz' Media Literacy class and other interested students on Tuesday, February 25. Congratulations to Abington Senior High School senior, Kenneth Lawyer, who was honored at Tuesday's Board meeting for being named the January 2025 Student of the Month at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN). Kenneth was recognized for his outstanding work in EASTERN’s Protective Services program, and he was also one of the students recognized as a volunteer firefighter who responded to last week's fire at SPS Technologies. #ASDProud #AwardsofASD

On February 13, students from the Middle Eastern and North African Association took a field trip to the Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athen. Students were able to explore the museum's collection of Mesopotamian, Greek, and Egyptian artifacts, learning more about the rich history and culture. Following the visit to the Glencairn museum, the students then went to Bishos restaurant to enjoy Middle Eastern street food. The trip ended at Le Souk market, where the owner spoke on his experiences opening both, Bishos restaurant and Le Souk market as an immigrant from the Middle East. #ASHSProud #AbingtonProud

Last week, six Abington Senior High School students who are also local firefighters were treated to donuts courtesy of Mrs. Kristina Davis, ASHS Registrar, and her husband, Jamie Davis who works at the middle school. Mrs. Davis reports that during the fire at SPS Technologies, these students risked their own safety to save the Davis home from catching fire. The Davis' are forever grateful! Just in time for Read Across America Week, celebrated March 2-6, 2025, Abington School District Is launching a new poster campaign called “ASD Reads!”, designed to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among students of all ages.
With more than 100 unique designs that will be displayed across the District’s 10 school buildings, bus garage and Administration Building, the poster artwork features staff members districtwide, including teachers, paraprofessionals, administrative assistants, bus drivers, custodians, administrators and more. School directors were also included in the campaign. All of the featured personnel were photographed holding their favorite book so that they can share this personal fun fact about themselves with students.
“ASD Reads!” posters will be displayed throughout each school, from libraries and cafeterias, to hallways and classrooms, beginning this week. We are very proud to announce that on Feb 6, ASHS sent three students to the PMEA District 11 Choral Festival. This is a very prestigious festival that features the best high school singers from throughout Montgomery and Bucks County. The students are:

While at these festivals, all student musicians completed a second audition for advancement to the region-level festivals. We are thrilled to share that all three of our ASHS singers will advance to Region Chorus, to be held in March. We congratulate these fine musicians!
