Congratulations to Kimberly Smith, Jonathan Hagopian, Lauren Cousineau and John Viens who have been selected by Agawam Public Schools as the 2025 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award Winners. They will be honored on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. Kimberly Smith is a Special Education Teacher at the High School. Kimberly goes above and beyond in and outside of the classroom. Students consistently express how much they appreciate her help and find her to be a safe space. Jonathan Hagopian is a Music Teacher at the Junior High School. Jonathan has dedicated both his personal and professional time and efforts to building the general music program. He has created a variety of programs that are inclusive of all students and all student levels. Lauren Cousineau is a Preschool Teacher at the Early Childhood Center. For nearly two decades, Lauren has been a cornerstone of excellence in Early Childhood education. Her unwavering dedication to her students, families and colleagues make her a standout candidate for this award. First Year Teacher winner is John Viens from Phelps School. From the moment John made the commitment to become a teacher, he has displayed an extraordinary level of dedication, creativity and passion for teaching that has made a profound impact on our students, colleagues and the entire school community. He has created a safe environment in which students can learn and be the best version of themselves.

Join us District Wide while we "Clue In" to School Breakfast to Celebrate National School Breakfast week.
Our students at the Junior High and High School will continue that week with food from all over the world while we celebrate International World Language Week.

Update on buses. Bus 7 + 10 just left the yard and on their way to pick students up for Junior High school. Bus 16 has not started yet and bus 13 broke down..

Due to the cold weather there will be a few bus delays. Latest update buses 2+4 are picking up students. Bus 13 left the yard but is having trouble running. Buses 7,10+16 have not been able to start yet. Sorry for any inconvenience .

SEPAC Meeting
The Agawam Special Education Department invites parents and guardians to a meeting of the Special Education Parents' Advisory Council. The SEPAC is intended to be a parent-led group that provides support and advocacy for students with special needs.
Currently, the Agawam Public Schools does not have a parent-led SEPAC; and the special education department is looking for parent leaders to partner with.
A meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the Peirce Conference Room of the Agawam Public Library. Our initial meeting will be a meet and greet with special education administration and a review of the new IEP form.

Congratulations to the William P. Sapelli School who has been named a school of recognition by the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education as part of its annual accountability reporting process. The Department identifies a small number of Schools of Recognition. These schools demonstrate high achievement and high growth and meet or exceed accountability targets. Congratulations to the staff, students, and families of Sapelli school for all the hard work and commitment that went into reaching 93% of their targets on last year’s MCAS test, attendance, and language acquisition.
