- Reviewed in Canada on October 10, 2023Size: WhiteColour Name: WhiteVerified PurchaseI highly recommend this as a solid PC controller, but please go into Steam Big Picture and then controller settings and disable "steam desktop input" or something with a similar name. If you plug this controller into your PC with that enabled, your controller's inputs will control your desktop. In other words, the left stick and d-pad will scroll up and down pages, the right stick will act as a mouse, etc. Disabling that setting in Steam Big Picture fixed it completely for me. I've never had the issue with any other controller on PC, likely because they were purely third party controllers, whereas this one is technically third party but is officially licensed by Microsoft. Funny how that works, huh? If I had one complaint, it would be that the face buttons (A, B, X and Y) feel kinda flat. Not bad, but just a bit flat. The triggers feel fantastic; even better than what I remember 360 triggers feeling like. The bumpers are great, and the sticks are really smooth and fluid, and don't feel rough on the top. I saw some people complain about the d-pad, but I think it feels great. The back buttons, sadly, don't come automatically mapped to the same actions as A and B do, unlike two other third party switch/pc controllers I've used, where they would auto swap to whatever A and B were assigned to, but not a big deal for me or most players, I'd imagine. A solid 9/10 controller. Would be 10/10 if you didn't have to change settings in Steam, and while it's probably unfair to blame Microsoft and 8Bitdo for that, it is something that I've only experienced with this controller out of several...other than that I haven't had to do any tweaking :)
- Reviewed in Canada on October 22, 2024Size: BlackColour Name: BlackVerified PurchasePicked this up as a replacement for a well worn wired 360 controller for pc gaming, and despite oddly enough getting listed as only being partially supported for a number of games on Steam still works completely fine without a hitch in my own experiences. Buttons, d-pad and sticks feel solid and responsive, no complaints.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 5, 2023Size: BlackColour Name: BlackVerified PurchaseThe hardware:
The sticks and triggers feel super smooth and precise out of the box. The inputs are precise too. First thing I tested was a racing sim game, which absolutely requires precise inputs, and I was able to turn the steering deadzone off - something I needed with my xbone controller. I can finally casually play driving games again without having to set up my steering wheel!!
All the other buttons, especially the D-pad, feel a little bit mushy. Not awful but not quite as good as my xbone controller. 100% worth it for the quality analog controls though.
How it feels in your hands:
In comparison to my official xbone controller (the gold standard of comfort imo), this feels lighter and JUST slightly smaller. I wouldn't say I have large hands since my fingers are pretty stubby, but even then I feel like the buttons and left stick are too close to the triggers and may cramp my hands up over time.
My one real complaint is that the back paddle buttons don't function as actual bindable buttons on PC. Even after installing the 8bitdo software the most you can do is assign them to buttons that are already on the controller. This seems to be the norm with controllers that have these back paddles but I thought 8bitdo would do it differently since they're always so highly recommended by the emulating community. I was hoping to have a few extra buttons to play with but I guess controllers just aren't made with PC gamers in mind. The non-xbox-licensed controllers also lack this functionality, and somehow cost more than this one, so no hard feelings I guess. Luckily this controller is so inexpensive that I don't feel like I paid more for the features that I'll never use.
Compared to the non-xbox version of this controller, it lacks a turbo button and you can't set macros in the software. Two things I don't really care about but you might want to know before buying this.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 12, 2023Size: BlackColour Name: BlackVerified PurchaseI bought this controller thinking it would just be a cheapo crappy thing to get me by until I could afford the more expensive legit Xbox controller. I was wrong lol This controller is AMAZING! You'll definitely need to get used to the smaller triggers and the angle of the hand grips is straight down rather than at an angle and that also might "weird" some ppl out during use, but any uncomfy feeling will fade as you get used to it. The controller works PERFECTLY, all buttons perform perfectly, press well and feels fine. The thumbsticks are nice and tight feeling, there is a slight play in the thumbsticks when pressing them in to get to the R3/L3 buttons, but that is ok and if its a major issue I can always replace the actual thubsticks as they appear to be the same size and shape as the proper Xbox ones. I am VERY happy with this controller. So happpy that I bought a second one to replace my GF's failing controller lol very good product, but only a few days into testing.

This is honestly the best controller i ever had and the most durable so far. Usually my official xbox controller last 3-6 months and they start to stick drift and rattle. So i recommend these alot and the cable is so long you can use it on the couch with no problem. I will stay with this brand as long as their products are top quality! Effective and fairly priced get it now!
- Reviewed in Canada on December 15, 2023Size: WhiteColour Name: WhiteVerified PurchaseI have been using this controller for the past few months. I consider it an upgrade to the Xbox controller. I like that its truly wired, it feels good in my hands and has a nice texture on the grip. Software is needed to make use of the paddle buttons. great price and quality.
UPDATE
As of Jan 25 2023, the left analog stick has stopped working properly. controller is not usable.
quality isn't as good as I initially thought. bad controller, avoid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Produto ótimo e com cabo usb tipo C bastante grande

4.0 out of 5 stars Drift desde de día 1

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality gamepad that works in Linux
Size: WhiteColour Name: WhiteVerified PurchaseOriginally got this because I couldn't figure out how to get the current XBOX One wireless controller working in Pop!_OS (20.04) it's Ubuntu based. There are a couple different open source solutions out there for getting XBOX One (and compatible) gamepads working but none worked for me till I found "XONE" through a Reddit thread. I'm not sure if Amazon will allow links so just do a web search for "medusalix xone ubuntu" and it should be the first github link. If you're running Linux I'll assume you can follow the instructions on the page listed in the README.md file. I'm not some kind of Linux super pro grizzled beard admin, just a tinkerer, system builder, gamer. Haptic feedback works with this driver too! Full functionality with Steam games anyway with native XBOX controller support. BTW this "XONE" driver also works with the wireless XBOX One controller+dongle.
About the pad:
Seems solidly built. Cable also seems sturdy and should last many years of casual use.
Force Feedback motors are nice and strong. Not sure how 8BitDo tuned them but they feel more satisfying than the ones in my older XBOXOne wireless controller. It's not a strength thing, more like. I dunno, just feels better.
Analog sticks feel about the same to me, as well as the buttons, just the right amount of pressure and a satisfying motion when depressed. Really well tuned & really I feel like all the face and shoulder buttons feel the same (As a stock XBOX One Controller) but with 2 notable exceptions. 1. It has buttons on the underside that I have yet to use, but have very satisfying resistance and click, but even more notable is the analog triggers. The travel, smoothness and spring loading is just soooooooooooo nice. Waaaaaaaaaay better than the analog triggers on my XBOXOne wireless controller IMO.
As for ergonomics, both the wireless controller and this one feel really nice, but I have to say that I prefer the 8BitDo Ultimate overall. It has a slightly thicker looking profile top to bottom, and the hand grips just feel better in my hands, slightly narrower I think. I'm a little over 6' feet (182 cm) tall with average "paws" to match. Oh the controller is roughly identical in size to a stock XBOX controller. The model 8BitDo used has small hands.
All in all I think this is one of the best alternatives to a "classic" XBOX One controller that exist. Can I get 10 years out of this with casual use like I did with my original XBOX 360 USB controller? I don't know, maybe. Decent price, amazing force feedback and ergonomics, no batteries ever, oh and completely plug & play with Windows 10 and 11 of course as well.
Hope this review was helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lång sladd är plus
