Purchase options and add-ons
Sauron has returned. . . watch The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 on Prime Video.
Immerse yourself in Middle-earth with J. R. R. Tolkien’s classic masterpieces behind the films, in this gorgeous pocket-sized, leatherette-bound box set—the perfect gift for Lord of the Rings devotees.
This four-volume, pocket-sized box set contains Tolkien's epic works The Hobbit and the three volumes of The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King). The set comes shrink-wrapped with all four books in a leatherette-bound box with gold foil stamping; each book features a leatherette cover with stamped title and their compact size (4 1/4" x 5 7/8") makes them perfect to carry anywhere.
In The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins is whisked away from his comfortable, unambitious life in Hobbiton by the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves. He finds himself caught up in a plot to raid the treasure hoard of Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon.
The Lord of the Rings tells of the great quest undertaken by Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring: Gandalf the wizard; the hobbits Merry, Pippin, and Sam; Gimli the dwarf; Legolas the elf; Boromir of Gondor; and a tall, mysterious stranger called Strider.
Tolkien's epic tales are at once a classic myth and a modern fairy tale—a story of high and heroic adventure set in the unforgettable landscape of Middle-earth.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2024These are small and the covers will take more abuse than paperback (and give more character if scuffed). Much better to stuff in a bag than the big LOTR all in one book. Trade off is the smaller the book, the smaller the print so if you need reading glasses, you will for sure with these.
Overall, neat little set and should hold up to rereading many times. Paper has a nice feel too. Bought as a gift for my daughter who loves all things Tolkien and will give for Christmas.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2024This is a good quality set of books. As other reviewers have said, the print size is quite small, but the print quality is high, the letters quite clear. I’m well into my 70s and wear corrective lenses for astigmatism, but can clearly and comfortably read the print. The pages are appropriate in thickness for these pocket sized books. The flexible, faux suede covers ensure that the books are pleasurable to hold and comfortable to read and carry. The maps are also quite clear and easy to read. A big thumbs up for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2024Got these as a gift for my boyfriend since he had been wanting a set of the Lord of the rings books. He loved them, covers feel soft and good quality. The text is quite small and pages are thin since these are pocket size but he said they are still readable. Great quality little set for an even better price.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2024Love these! They came on time with good packaging. They are very small, which i wasn't expecting... but I also didn't read the description! Still very good-looking on my bookshelf! Also didn't realize it can't with The Hobbit, which I already own, but it's not a problem!

I recently bought a set of Lord of the Rings books as a gift for my husband, and I’ve got to say, I’m really happy with them. First off, the books are smaller than I expected. I thought they'd be bigger, but it's actually kind of nice because they’re super portable. The leather covers are gorgeous and give the books a classy, vintage feel. They look great on our bookshelf and feel really nice to hold. The quality is top-notch. The binding is solid and the pages are good quality. These books are definitely built to last. The only downside is the small print. The letters are pretty tiny, so if you struggle with small text, that could be an issue. But if your eyesight is fine, it shouldn’t be a big deal. As a gift, these books were perfect. My husband loves the Lord of the Rings series, and he was so surprised and excited when he opened them. He said it was a really fun and thoughtful present, and he was thrilled.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2024I am somewhat disappointed with this book set. The books are rather small, but about the overall size of the set I bought in paperback around 1980. The leatherette of the case and bindings is supple and pleasant feeling. The type is quite small, but the printing clarity and contrast are quite good. In good light with the proper glasses these are easy to read. In dimmer light, I struggle. The item description includes the physical size of the books, but does not mention that the capital letters of the text is only about 5/64ths of an inch. Similar sized books in my library all have text that is 30% to 50% larger and are definitely easier on the eyes even with lower overall printing and paper quality. At 1100 pages for the trilogy plus 300 for The Hobbit, I expect to struggle reading through this set in any time frame that doesn't stretch to years.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2024Though a lot of the language is old, it's still easy enough to understand - even for someone like me who doesn't read much.
Another thing I appreciate about these books is that it isn't full of profanity and indecency, like a lot of modern fantasy has become. It is a good tale that can be enjoyed by all ages without need of censoring the more mature topics for a younger audience.
Also, loved to see how different the books were from the movies. Entire characters and plots were removed for the cinematic experience. The movies still hold up well, but it was nice to read the original work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Little Set
Specifically, this is about the leatherette bound pocket-sized Special Edition, as I've noticed that some reviews overlap between different editions.
This is not a review of the story. Anyone considering buying this version either doesn't need my review of the books or should search the internet for the millions of existing reviews; it's enough for me to just say that there's a reason this is one of the most famous fantasy series of all time for good reason.
This printing/binding is exactly what I was hoping for. The books are very beautiful in a simple way. The covers are in fact floppy fake leather, not leather-covered hardbacks. They are very soft and pliable, smooth and with a nice thick and creamy paper. The font is very small but clear and bold, perfectly legible if you don't have problems reading up close. The maps are as good as they can be being so tiny, and some details are lost.
This is a set that will look great on the shelf. No gold leaf or anything to really pop out, but their small size and subdued covers that look like they could have been printed decades ago add a certain charm. The size and light weight make them perfect books to read on the go, and people will be curious about what you're reading because of how they look.

Gifted it to my husband who is an LoTR fan. He loved it! The binding is luxurious, we loved the small size and the print is good. It's so beautiful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ojo, formato pequeño.
