Testing & Analysis

Condition Monitoring collects, sorts and analyzes data about the condition of your machine and provides advanced warning of developing issues so damage to machinery and shutdown can be avoided. It is a major component of predictive maintenance and can detect the following:

  • Misalignment of shaft couplings, flexible machine couplings
  • Misalignment of underwater running gear such as propeller struts
  • Propeller defects
  • Shaft bends
  • Unbalance of rotating components
  • Main engine misfire problems
  • Looseness
  • Deterioration of rolling-element bearings within transmissions and thrust bearings
  • Gear wear
  • Rubbing
  • Resonance
  • Machinery soft-foot conditions

Testing & Analysis Services

Implementing a vibration monitoring program will protect your assets with substantial savings in consumed energy, minimization of spare parts and slowed or lost production. Preventative maintenance is the best way to maximize your ROI on your assets.

Our analysts are certified by the most respected programs. Armed with knowledge and experience, we can diagnose current defects or tell you what should be addressed before a problem occurs. We provide full, written reports detailing findings, conclusions and recommendations on how to rectify any defects as well as preventative measures that should be taken.

Advanced Diagnostics

Advanced diagnostics are a group of advanced testing methods that go beyond what even vibration analysis can detect. This is meant for mechanical issues where the root cause is difficult to determine. Using strain indicators and advanced software such as the Pruftechnik VibGuard, Binsfeld TorqueTrak, DeweSoft, we can discover the long-term underlying issues causing your machinery to operate at less than its best capacity.

Transfer The Data, Not The Man

Remote monitoring is a cost-effective strategy to reap the benefits of a vibration analysis with less cost. To cut down on travel expenses, you can collect vibration data remotely. You can go the handheld route, where your on-site crew collects vibration data and sends it to AME to analyze for you. You can also permanently mount accelerometers that continuously collect and feed data into a database that AME will analyze for you. Remote monitoring can detect misalignments, imbalances, looseness, bent shafts, and more. It is especially helpful for class society PMP.

Torque Measurements

Torque measurements detect if the propellers are pitched correctly. By comparing the measured torque values to the engine output values, you can see if there are any engine malfunctions. For this, we use stain gauges that are applied to propeller shafts and measure the strain of the shaft with TorqueTrak. This ensures that you are getting the maximum power possible from your engines.

Motion Amplification/Video ODS Analysis

Motion amplification uses a high-speed RDI camera that turns each pixel into a vibration sensor. This camera detects changes in light and uses it to exaggerate movements. This simplifies vibration analysis and shows a video representation of a vibration readout. This is especially useful in detecting issues in foundation or structural issues.
