Our Road of No Return follows a very basic storyline of two friends discovering their love for each other. The OVA focuses on Amafuji Ken, a dark-haired, brown-eyed skinny high school dropout who longs to tell his best friend, sandy-blond, hazel-eyed Yoshinari Ritsurou, how he really feels. Standing in the way of that admission is Ritsurou's girlfriend, Moeko -- not to mention the fact that Ken makes money to pay for his apartment by selling his body to men he meets on the street or at clubs. Ken's parents are divorced, so he lives by himself. After dropping out of high school, Ken gets Ritsurou to live with him, cooking and straightening in exchange for a place to live on their own.

A plain, generic Shounen-Ai.

A story about friendship turning into love is normally something I like. Here we had also the variation that one of the guys had only girlfriends until they got together. Still the story was only so-so and there was nothing remarkable about it.

The character design is nice - you have the usual bishounen which are eye-candy. There was supposed to be some romance in it but it wasn't really emotional. The highlight is kinda a tame kiss.

All in all it was an okayish watch.

The only reason I watched this one shounen-ai OVA is because there seemed to be some sort of different story about it. One of the guys already had a girlfriend, so that had potential to make up an interesting love triangle, if any. However, like most yaoi/shounen-ai out there, it is VERY badly written, to the point you wonder why someone even bothered putting this into anime. The idea is good (i.e. the classic: where is the line drawn between friendship and love), the script is definitely not. The pacing is all wrong, especially when it comes to creating the relationship between the three characters. For the whole 25 minutes, they behave strangely, 'unlogically', and say uninteresting things that are out of character. You even wonder at the end if the story had any start; it doesn't really have a conclusion either.

The animation is ordinary, no major issue except for those weird fade in-fade out used throughout, which made it look lazy. Character design is also very plain, I wouldn't even rate those guys as super bishounen...

Sound is pretty average and very boring too. It's your usual kitsch saxophone combined with keyboard, and one forgettable ending song.

Not a recommendation, even if you like shounen-ai and yaoi. If you like to peep, there is nothing to see in this one except for the standard kiss ;)
