A pesky secret plot keeps interfering with weird, adorable teenagers that just want to build a god-damn Gundam.
The show constantly switches between mystery thriller and slice of life and the writing can be frustratingly contrived here and there, but I really enjoyed this despite of that.
The suspense from the mystery thriller part of the show kept me engaged throughout, all the while avoiding the most obvious pitfalls that almost every other show would have gleefully flung itself into.
The characters are what made me stick with it though. They're the most charming little weirdos, down to the supporting cast.
tl;dr: Ragtag group of hobby gundam builders meets conspiracy plot, which has aged surprisingly well with the rise of fake news and disinformation campaigns.
