Elena Ulrich
Elena Ulrich was born in 1975 in Russia. She studied at St. Petersburg State University and has two academic degrees: Master of Philological sciences and Master of Psychological sciences. Now she lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic.
As a student, she completed training courses and worked as a guide in the Hermitage Museum. This work opened up to Elena an incredible world of painting. Interest in classical painting has grown into an interest in art in the general meaning of the word.
Her own experience of painting is connected with spiritual search and interest to the East Asian culture. The beauty of the Tibetan mandala and its sacred meaning pushed Mrs. Ulrich to a detailed study of the geometry of mandalas, to a research of multicultural symbols, to learn the epos of India and China.
Elena is self-taught artist. She does not have a higher artistic education. Several hours of communication with Buddhist monks which were specialists in the creation of the sand mandala, trips to the temples of India and conversations with the Brahmins, a huge quantity of reading literature and about 10,000 hours spent for the painting - that's all her artistic experience.
At that moment the artist has been working in the Zen art style for about 10 years. Each mandala is not just a picture created by the artist's imagination. It is filled with sacred meaning, symbols and created according to geometric principles. Many mandalas are created for specific people like portraits in classical painting.
Mostly Elena Ulrich paints with oil or acrylic on canvas. However, there are several works of the painting on wood (furniture) and wall paintings.
The author's paintings adorn some Prague centers of yoga and oriental medicine, as well as private homes in the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia and the United States.
