Northamptonshire Police revert to 'recognisable' logo

Northamptonshire Police have taken the decision to revert to a logo last used in 1995 in an attempt to make the force more "recognisable".
Using the old Star of Bath emblem would "restore a sense of identity" among officers, Supt Chris Hillery said.
It would also be "easily recognisable externally as a police service badge".
The logo cost about £1,500 to design and will mainly be used on documentation and electronic communications.
Mr Hillery said the current design was "probably modern in the 90s", but said he was never sure why the force abandoned its more traditional logo.
"The star of Bath emblem was much more in keeping and easily recognisable internally and hopefully externally.
"It's what a traditional police badge would look like and which has always remained on helmets and head attire of all of our officers," he said.
In a survey 88% of police staff opted to revert to the old design.
"I think they questioned whether [the current design] was in keeping and easily recognisable externally as a police service badge," Mr Hillery said.
"In terms of our uniform and the fleet there's no additional cost because for a number of years our badge has not appeared in any form on those."
