I do think there is much room for new types of trailers Currently we lack a few conventional trailers that would make sense in Beamng We don't have a lowboy, which could be useful for some reason, and we lack a proper car trailer (we do have the dryvan but that's meant more for special deliveries) Also, if the devs decide to go with a heavy machinery or trucking update, we may see the ability to run stuff off of a PTO, which would add much more functionality to the Stambecco These trailer and truck updates could be a real game changer, because it may attract the attention of truck simulator players like myself, and it could just be a constant cycle of improvement of the simulator players giving feedback and the game improving
Some oversized loads for the T-Series would be great to see, and there's certainly a bunch of conventional trailers which would be interesting to see. But expanding that conversation a bit more, trailers in general have been rather disregarded overall and I really hope to see that addressed soon. We don't have any goose neck trailers whatsoever, the Wydra really could use a dedicated trailer, and there's a whole bunch of ball hitch trailers that would be great to see (a larger camper *cough* airstream *cough*, small off road trailer, boat trailer with a prop for some oval trailer races, etc...)
Im quite curious if any of the devs are reading this; Since we're on the verge of graphics streamlining and I know the question is for those inclined for high end builds.. skip ray tracing, any plans of path tracing burning my gpu into ashes? Also about time we get subsurface scattering and a few other graphical features, also any optimizations for physics/rendering would be nice.. haven't seen any physics core optimization for quite a while unless thats the furthest it can go
Indeed, we do lack trailers for regular cars too Maybe if it's a trucking update, we could also get some real car trailers instead of the undersized, under-equipped haul car trailers and get something like this I want to at least haul my dirt-oval Barstow into pit lane because it feels cool
Well I am a trucker so I can confirm that there much more variety of trucks, trailers and loads in real life than in the game currently. I’m not sure if you’ve been watching the thread for Lucas’ Scout, but if you’ve seen the load options he made for it, loads of that quality would be great for the trailers and T-series. Not to mention better modeled load straps, as seen in the Scout. Portable water containers, generic or miscellaneous cardboard boxes, random car parts, generic wood crates with scaleable size and weight, jersey barriers, spools of cable, equipment props would all be great for not only the semi and trailer, but all the vehicles that can have loads like H-series, D-series, smaller trailers and stambecco (which should also have a real flatbed in my opinion, instead of just the bed with raised sides and non flat floor). --- Post updated --- This also brings enclosed small trailers to mind.
In updates note there is some interesting point. https://www.beamng.com/resources/1981-1996-wentward-5000-series.23833/updates I wonder if T-Series get a life spam like Kenworth w900. And it would be nice to geta more aerodynamic truck like FreightLiner Cascadia and Euro truck.
[ edit- just thought it would also be nice to have the option for tarps over flatbed, pickup bed and open trailer loads.
IMO It doesn't really effect gameplay that much, the current system is fine for the cars that we have (if you really want a config that isn't represented it's easy to make with the fantastic parts selector), but it would add to the incredible detail that is unique to this game and make future features and mods much enhanced. Hopefully it wouldn't be "every car has to have x amount of tiers and each tier must be the same in every car" but if it has to that's fine. The amount of work going into this game is huge and, as highlighted by the most recent post in the official Development Media Thread, there is a lot of more important non-content things going on behind the scenes.
What if the vehicle selector functioned like a brochure? Would be unique and immersive something like this where you can select paint, interior color, wheels etc Some options grayed out for certain trims to reduce complexity Could function as a glorified parts editor, and could be split into several brochures for facelifts and different markets
I'll probaby draw up an example brochure to show what I mean. The biggest hurdle is making each brochure feel realistic for each car, but they could easily be based off of real brochures
These brochure-like UI you're talking about would work well in an eventual career mode showroom... but personally for freeroam i'd rather keep a simpler UI, just to keep it easy to use
this would be a pain to quickly select a vehicle but at the same time i cannot imagine anything cooler
Ideally you would be able to select just a trim level, and the current ui would probably make sense for "aftermarket" configs.
Exactly what i meant, in freeroam, where you can change cars fairly often, the current UI is way better, but im career mode, where you can take your time to buy a new car, the brochure UI would be amazing
