Gravity Falls: The Complete Series Blu-ray
Posted March 27, 2018 03:38 PM by
Shout Factory has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray Gravity Falls: The Complete Series. The Blu-ray box set will be available for purchase on July 24.
Arriving on Blu-ray for the first time ever, the complete series will be available in two editions. The Collector's Edition will be a seven-disc box set that includes an entire disc of bonus features, including brand-new bonus content created specifically for this release. There will also be a six-disc retail edition that includes all 40 episodes of the series, but does not include the bonus feature disc. Bonus features are in progress and will be announced at a future date.
Inspired by Hirsch's real-life adventures with his twin sister, Gravity Falls follows twin brother and sister Dipper and Mabel Pines on an adventure of a lifetime when they spend the summer with their great uncle, Grunkle Stan, in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon.
But there may be more to Gravity Falls than meets the eye as Dipper and Mabel encounter strange occurrences and weird creatures. When Dipper stumbles upon a mysterious book, he discovers it is the answer to uncovering the town's mysterious happenings. Soon, Dipper and Mabel realize they must rely on each other to navigate this unfamiliar place. Meanwhile, Grunkle Stan guards a secret of his ownone that just might hold the key to unlocking the deeper mystery that is Gravity Falls.
Dang, this show is more brutal than I remember \m/
(Preserved for posterity, since I imagine they'll fix it: http://i.cubeupload.com/X3hbqB.png)
Anyway this is absolutely fantastic and unexpected news. This'll almost definitely sell gangbusters and who knows what else Shout! could negotiate to license from Disney now that their foot's in the door..
I loved Gravity Kills in high school and even though I haven't seen the show, I'm super stoked that a Disney-owned TV series property is getting a Blu-ray release, which is like finding a Dodo in the wild!
I wonder if that means Shout! might release more Disney Channel series in complete series box sets? Like Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, or even some of the early 2000's shows.
Hopefully Shout! does more Disney. I would like to see Kim Possible, American Dragon, Recess, Gargoyles, Mighty Ducks, and a few others make their way to blu.
I'm not interested in this show but I'd love to see other Disney TV properties released on Blu-ray: The Muppet Show (especially the final two seasons that are MIA), Gummi Bears, DuckTales...
Great! I need to get in this show, seems right up my alley (mystery, horror, supernatural, etc.). And I'm super happy for more Disney TV and kids animation on Blu. I await an eventual Star vs. the Forces of Evil Blu-ray.
I'm so excited about this announcement! I plan to preorder the Collector's edition from Shout ASAP. This is one of the top 10 shows of all time in my opinion. The entire series is on Hulu for those that want to check it out. I would describe it as an animated X-Files that is written with children and adults in mind. This is a great year for physical releases of animated series with Avatar the Last Airbender and Batman the Animated Series coming out later this year as well.
Dang, that's brutal. Disney has some serious cajones to release s show called "Gravity Kills"! But in all seriousness, is the extra disc set exclusive to Shout Factory's website or will it be a special edition thing you can also order elsewhere?
@Regulas314 - There apparently is going to be a 6 disc DVD only version set sold in stores, but the 7 disc DVD and Blu-ray sets are going to be sold online, but I don't know if it's just on Shout or online in general... but Shout does have a 18" X 24" lithograph.
I'll have to get this eventually, if it's sold other places and is cheaper. The artwork looks a little thick like it has memorabilia type stuff but that could just be how the image is... I hope it's just discs though, I don't like paying for the extra stuff when all I want is the show lol
Unfortunately the Shout store doesn't ship to Australia, so hopefully Amazon will have this soon.
Though I'd rather get the Collector's Edition and definitely want the lithograph.
I was pretty ticked when they released that lame dvd-only compilation of like six random episodes. Finally this show is getting the release it deserves. This and Avatar the Last Airbender and the two best US animation series this century. Too bad Airbender wasn't done in HD, but I'll still be getting the bluray anyway, at least its progressive instead of interlaced.
One of the better Disney shows in recent years, I'll likely buy this. And btw, it's Gravity Falls, not Gravity Kills.
Now if we can just get Gargoyles, Kim Possible, and My Life As a Teenage Robot on Blu-ray as well.
Have never seen this show but it sounds like it could be good. I would love to still see The Wuzzles and a new release of Timon & Pumbaa. The dvds of T&P are OOP and very hard to get.
I haven't seen the complete series because I don't have cable and I'm against piracy. In addition, I have a hard time remembering to finish watching a show I buy digitally, so I haven't gotten that either. However, I've seen the first ten episodes and I am super excited to get this and see the rest of the series! When my Dad who absolutely hates pretty much all TV recommends me a show, I know it's good. I will be getting this on day one. Hopefully Shout can get the rights to even more hand animated Disney cartoons.
Would be interested in Gargoyles, if Shout can get it. A friend of mine likes Gravity Falls, so I might pick up after I check a few shows out on DisneyXD.
I am amazed Disney Channel is willing to release content to shout factory, a good step forward for Disney Channel as a network, smart decision by the current president Gary Marsh.
@JMCurtis, if i remember correctly Gargoyles was originally set up for Toon Disney (what's now Disney XD), the question is did The Walt Disney Company keep enough available for HD remastering of those works or did they wipe the tapes for Toon Disney making shout's job more difficult?
I hope shout can go back further in the library to early 2000s Disney Channel, the ability to reissue DCOM's, have it include Disney Juniors predecessor Playhouse Disney (depending on if those have not been wiped per Disney/ABC Domestic Television and Home Entertainment Distribution's practices) and so on.
Good job in releasing gravity falls to blu-ray disc, more will come if it performs well, like the early Saban Entertainment library which Disney presently is operating among other possibilities (and it is doing nothing at all with in using, why not go to Shout Factory)
