Disney and Marvel Studios have announced that they will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff. The two releases will be available for purchase on August 1.
Description:The galaxy's favorite band of misfits are back for one final adventure, and it may be their most dangerous yet. James Gunn's epic conclusion to the Guardians trilogy is "full of heart, humor, and action" (Ross Bonaime, Collider) and "an absolute must-see" (Molly Freeman, Screen Rant). Raising the stakes to new levels, the team must protect one of their own from a mysterious new villain in a thrilling adventure full of the spectacle, humor and heart that fans have come to expect. And of course, an awesome soundtrack
In Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits is looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), still reeling from a terrible loss, must rally his team and embark on a dicey, action-packed mission to defend the universe and protect Rocket. Meanwhile, a new, unpredictable force threatens to bring the Guardians down for good. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is written and directed by James Gunn.

A genuinely wonderful finale to these weirdos and Gunn's stint in the MCU. It's got its rough edges but the heart of this thing is so big and bold It's extremely hard to deny.
@thechewdefense According to the press notes, even the Blu-ray, DVD and digital editions will have variable ratios.
I'm going to guess that Disney+'s IMAX Enhanced version will be in constant 1.90:1 ratio, since that's how it was shown in IMAX. So I wonder if the variable aspect ratios option will also be included on the service.
I saw the film at Imax, and enjoyed the dynamic aspect ratio use.
I saw the film again at a regular cinema today, and was shocked to see it was the Imax DAR version. Is Vol.3 the start of dynamic aspect ratio MCU films playing at all theatres (and seemingly home formats)?
all this talk of shifting aspect ratios has got me confused, is this going to include both aspect ratios? It was fixed 1.90:1 when I saw it on IMAX and 2.39:1 when I saw it again in the regular theater.
Yes there were actually three versions of this film: a scope only version, an IMAX version at 1.90, and then a third version where some stuff was expanded and other scenes were scope. I only saw the 1.90 IMAX version but I believe Dolby Cinemas had the alternating aspect ratios? This blu-ray will be the shifting aspect ratio version. I assume the 1.85 is a slight crop in from the 1.90 and not the other way around?
FINALLY a Disney release with the IMAX ratio included. I guess I have to buy it day-one to encourage that to become the norm rather than only available that way on Disney+
Anyone know why the SteelBook is not shipping from Best Buy? The only pre-order option I have is to pick it up from a store 50 miles away. I've pre-ordered SteelBooks from BB for years and this has never happened.
