Stop what you're doing and grab your phone. (Oh wait, you're reading this on your phone? Okay, you're one step closer to emoji heaven.) A whole buffet of new foodmojis are at your fingertips with the iOS 10.2 update today, including the long-awaited avocado, bacon, and croissant. With that trio plus the fried egg emoji, you've got your basic brunch ready for mass-texting.
Amongst the hundreds of new and updated emojis are quite an assortment: kiwi, baguette, peanuts, salad, stuffed pita, chocolate, honey, orange, paella, and clinking glasses of champagne. Plus there's a pregnancy emoji to illustrate the food baby that comes after a satisfying meal, male and female chefs, farmers, plenty of exercise emojis—from fencing to gymnastics to wrestling—for working off the calories, and a drooling face to react to your friend's Instagrammable kimchi udon. But there are probably a dozen less gross reaction emojis to choose before resorting to the drooling face.
Even though that doesn't sound like a ton of new food emojis, Apple has "beautifully redesigned" some old favorites—including a brand-spankin' new peach—to reintroduce you to the full catalog. Now the sushi has salmon and tuna, the burger and pancakes are more stacked, there are two types of eggs to choose from, the doughnut has more sprinkles, and the cucumber is sliced up so you can always send the ...right... message.
There's a danger here, though. As emojis get more realistic-looking, please don't try to eat your screen. But do go and use that avocado emoji all over the internet, just in case 2016 is the last year of the avo-toast trend. (We can dream, can't we?)
