A recently renovated vacation home, Prince Airport House offers accommodations in Catania. This vacation home offers free private parking, a 24-hour front desk, and free Wifi. Our one night stay at Prince Airport House was the perfect end to our holiday. The hosts were very accommodating. We encountered a road closure on our drive from Santo Stefano di Camastra so we were an hour behind schedule. I contacted our host and there was no problem. The house was easy to find and our hosts met us with the keys and welcomed us warmly. The house is very close to the airport but we were not disturbed by noise. The house was very clean, the bed comfortable (much better than the hotel we'd been staying in all week) and the facilities great. Breakfast foods and drinks were provided. This was much appreciated and a nice touch. The garden is lovely too. We felt comfortable, safe and secure at Prince Airport House , slept well and woke up refreshed ahead of our flight home. 100% recommended, we would stay here again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The city itself has a good atmosphere and is quite inexpensive with some good eating places. The bus service is extremely good with cheap local buses. Coaches to Syracuse and Taormina cost only 10 euros return and took approx 1 hour. Unfortunately it seems a very rundown area outside the city itself with derelict and abandoned buildings everywhere. Be aware of being ripped off by places and check your bill carefully. Taxis are horrendously expensive but if you are waiting at a bus stop cars will stop and offer to take you for half price fare.
Catania is a vibrant city with plenty to do and the locals are friendly. Good shopping and plenty of bars and restaurants. The only downside is that there was a lot of dog mess on the pavements so you have to be careful when walking.
Catania is a UNESCO world heritage site, and we visited many historic sites, churches & museums. We took a day tour to Agrigento and Villa Romana del Casale. We did two roof walks, with great views of Mt Etna. Easy to get around the city on local buses. Great Indian restaurant near the B&B. I liked the fish market, my wife not so much. PS we're in our seventies.
A very lively town full of historic buildings, churches, Baroque architecture, fabulous restaurants to suit every pocket - and exceptionally friendly people. The streets and public places, however, are dirty, rubbish-strewn and covered with graffiti and can be very off-putting. It is important to see beyond the mess! There are stylish boulevards, a lovely marina/promenade, and guided tours of impressive buildings - but the town really needs a good clean-up.
It is a place you must visit. It is full of attractions and attractive markets. Minus is a dirty place full of trash on the floor. It's not very safe either, as our car was broken into at night.
Catania is a great place with lots to do. It's dirty, noisy and full of graffiti but we both felt perfectly safe walking around at night and in crowded areas. It has a great WWII museum (bit of a walk from the town, but well worth it). There's a train station for getting to Taormina (and other places) - trains are very good & cheap but you need to get there well ahead of time as there can be long queues to buy tickets. It's great value in Catania - we found a place where a decent coffee was 70 cents. Most restaurants, even in the central areas, are very good value. Interesting flea market just off the Duomo on a Sunday.
Although on a busy street in an unattractive area, it is very conveniently situated for travelers using CTA airport - we wheeled our roll-aways there in maybe 7 minutes. Arriving dead tired, with food in hand that we bought before leaving the airport, it was the best solution for an early night. It is a one-room studio that has everything you need, nicely and thoughtfully appointed. The owner was aware of our flight delay, when we called she came over with the key in less than ten minutes (there is no reception).
