With a rich mix of influences from Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American cultures, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic center. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonization, Manila became an important city, known as the "Pearl of the Orient."
Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.
Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila “The City of Our Affections,” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.
Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.
For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City.

I'm not new to Manila having spent my formative years there, so there's a certain amount of familiarity . A lot has changed since then but you get used to these issues such as traffic and congestion. One thing's certain though, you won't get hungry as there are a multitude of food options no matter where you are. My advise is to use the local ride share outfit called GRAB , to get around town. Trust me on this. If you're planning to stay for an extended period of time, rent a place in Metro Manila and use this as your homebase to travel around the country. Happy travels!

I was pleasantly surprised in Manila.
I was pleasantly surprised in Manila. The people are warm and welcoming. There is plenty of international restaurants. And I really loved the cleanliness of BGC area, it felt like I was in Tokyo or Seoul with the modern builds.

We booked before our flight because Azure is close to the NAIA Airport so we can unwind with their refreshing amenities. The room was clean, and the property was new compared to other buildings in Azure. We all loved the wave pool and the room's breathtaking city view from the balcony and viewing deck, which includes the scenic Sierra Madre Mountains (i guess) from afar. Staff was nice and accommodating too. Will definitely book again :-)

i would say it all depends on what part of manila you plan to stay at.
depending on what your main purpose of visiting is, for example sight-seeing, i would advice to stay in close by. contending with manila's traffic eats up A LOT of your time! getting around can be an ordeal, so please pack a lot of patience!

The hotel is close to everything we needed restaurants, mercury drug store, Robinsons and there is no shortage of transport. I recommend it to my friends and we will stay at the hotel again. The only problem we encounter is the parking for my family and friends who wants to visit us there is no parking facilities and you have to pay if they want to stay longer to see us. The month we went is just right not so busy and not high season yet.
