The Dallas Cowboys have started their search for a new head coach, having requested interviews with several candidates to replace Mike McCarthy. Among those requests is Leslie Frazier, the Buffalo Bills’ former assistant head coach/defensive coordinator and current Seattle Seahawks’ assistant head coach.
Frazier’s tenure with the Bills lasted from 2017 through the 2022 NFL season. During this time his defenses consistently ranked amongst the league’s best, which contributed to his reputation as one of the NFL’s top defensive minds.
Throughout his career, but especially in Buffalo, Frazier played an important role in developing young talent. Frazier’s football CV has since led to his induction into the Black College Football Hall of Fame in 2023. Frazier’s defensive schemes have allowed for a lot of adaptability, helping veteran players revitalize their careers during their time in Buffalo.
In 2023 following a lot of uncertainty by One Bills Drive, Frazier decided to step away from the team for personal reasons, leaving many questions on whether or not he was done coaching.
Reports revealed that Frazier was focused on his next opportunity, with included attending the NFL ‘Coach Accelerator’ program in the spring of 2023. He then joined NFL Network as an analyst for the 2023 NFL season.
Frazier returned to the sidelines this past season as the assistant head coach with the Seattle Seahawks, and with one goal in mind — to return to head coaching. He may not be the answer in Dallas, but players love Leslie Frazier. His ability to maximize their strengths and create a culture of accountability makes him an ideal candidate for the Cowboys’ vacant position.
