Let me give you the things that I liked about the camp ground. The roads in the camping area were paved. The pads were paved and mostly level. They had Wi-Fi throughout the camping area. The bathrooms were clean. Dump station in loop A-B looks like it’s been updated recently.
Now the things that I didn’t like. The grass was overgrown. The shower house in the loop that we were camping in was under construction and was not able to be used. There was only two shower houses in the camp ground. We used the shower house in another loop which badly needed an update. Bathroom needed updated. There are only 20 out of 365 camp sites that are full hook-up. Camp sites very close together in loops A-B.
Overall a good camp site. Expect the worst, Hope for the best when it comes to camp sites😁

Others would require a fair amount of leveling. A&B loops looked like the only ones to get decent sized camper in. The rest of the loops were seriously out of level and very small. Looked like an old tent campground they started to put bigger sites and amenities in. They did have brand new wifi that was giving about 20MB download. Only about 30 campers there though.

Arrived early Friday morning, we actually booked our site for that Thursday so we could check in early Friday morning. We checked in with the friendly staff at the camp store and then made our way into the park. After filling up our fresh water tank we made our way to our site. We booked site B42, it’s a electric only (20/30/50amp), pull through site. The site was extremely level and required no side to side leveling. We had a large tree on the site next to us that offered some shade but other than that our site was extremely open. It was dry and our site had no mud, the grass was in very good shape.
The campground was completely booked and it was crowded. I’ve been to Hueston Woods for their Halloween themed weekends several years now. It was one of my favorite memories as a child, and I can honestly say I still love it just as much. Hueston Woods will do their Halloween weekends the first 3 weekends in October, and if you want a site, especially a decent one you’ll need to book early.
One side of the campground is extremely flat (A&B Loop). Full hook-ups are in loop A but don’t expect to snag one of those unless you’re on their website the second they make them available. The other loops on the other side of the campground are a different story. If you end up in any loop other than A & B bring plenty of items to help level your rig. The camp hosts are extremely helpful and will do all they can to help you fit and level your rig on your site. If it’s wet at all you’ll need four wheel drive. The park does not allow you to place your rig on the concrete parking pad. The concrete pad is exclusively for your tow vehicle. In the past I’ve seen park staff be very strict about parking, but it seems on busy, special event weekends they’re a little more relaxed.
The dump station can be a little chaotic. If there’s a crowd at all you can only use one side which as can imagine can take a while. I’d recommend hitting it early or waiting around for the line to die down.
If you have kids you honestly can’t beat it. There’s events all weekend for the kids and it’s just a great time.

They have paved areas but those are strictly for your vehicle, your camper/RV can’t be parked on the paved pad at all. We ended up getting stuck twice, hauling a 25ft travel trailer. On top of being muddy the site was extremely un-level, I had to utilize two packs of leveling blocks. The campground itself is very nice and secluded. The lodge has great pizza and you can even have a drink while you wait. We hit one hike why we were there and it was very nice, going along the creek. There are nice sites here. Upon walking around the campground we found several sites that were level and dry, but I believe those book very quick. Just be cautious about the site you book. It’s a large beautiful campground with plenty to do. I would stay here again but I would be much more selective about the site we reserve.

The location of Hueston Woods State Park Campground is fairly convenient and and easy to find. Being far enough from major highways, it is quiet at night.
As noted by a previous reviewer, the A loop was nice with paved sites and full hookups. Also located on this loop is the full service restroom/shower building. Loop B was electric only. Loops C-G are grass parking and not as nice. Then there are the primitive sites, loops H-R...
I tent camped at one of these primitive sites on loop K. The site itself was fine for tents, grassy and reasonably spacious, but there were several drawbacks. To begin, there were large nuts (Buckeyes?) periodically falling from the tree canopy above the campsite. They were nearly the size of golf balls and I was relieved that none damaged my tent or vehicle.
There was NO water available throughout the entire primitive camping area, not even in the nearby restroom building. The restroom stalls were another surprise - the doors were very short and I could see over them easily. They're also made to resemble some type of wooden fence; wood slats with gaps of 1-1½ inch between the boards, allowing an unwanted view of the occupant. One woman had her friend standing in front of the door to provide a little privacy.
There was also no oversight from any camp hosts - one group partied loudly until midnight. Another guy came in late at night, then hurriedly packed up at 6am and fled, likely another "sleep and creep" campsite thief.
I went to the campground facilities building on Loop A at 7:30 in the morning (much nicer and more private bathroom stalls than the primitive camping loops) and found the attendant attempting to clean when people were entering to take their morning shower. Seriously?
The recreation areas of the park seem very nice, so it's a shame that the campground alienates a large number of campers with substandard facilities and operations. It feels as the loops progress through the alphabet, the quality declines. This could be a very nice camping facility with a few simple improvements!

If you have a family this is a great place to come. Many things to do. But we were only passing through. Restrooms were clean and house were available. I personally prefer to stay in the national parks compared to this huge and busy park. It’s very pretty and well manicured.

So pretty with spring blooms on the trees, so many birds, people out enjoying the trails, stream, and lake. There is a nature walk, river, covered bridge, lodge, golf, group camps, equestrian camp and trails, and more! The only thing it didn't have was a robust cell signal.
Loop A was full hookup and pretty modern and level sites with concrete patios, while Loop B was just electric and the sites were a bit worse for the wear (see prior review). Loops C - G are designated as "camping equipment parks in the grass" as the paved parking spots were mostly saucer-shaped or severely sloped. These sites were mostly empty so it wasn't clear if RVs could fit here or not. The primitive sites (H-R) were still closed but looked really nice.
Turns out the entrance to the campground is the highest point in the park and I was able to get 10 down and 2 up for T-Mobile at best, and this is with the park mostly empty. As soon as the campground fills up I'm sure that signal would be wiped out. The park is quite large so there was lots still to explore.

We just purchased our first RV and this was our first outing ever. We had no idea what we were doing, but our first experience was a good one. We booked our site in January before visiting in April. They were already completely booked for full hookups, but we were able to get an electric site. We had no issues with the online booking process.
I did have a couple of questions prior to coming and placed (no joke) 17 phone calls to the park in one day. Most of the time no one would pick up, and when they did, no one knew the answer to my questions. I tried again the next day, and someone answered the first time and knew the answers to everything I asked. (And she was really nice!)
We arrived on a Friday afternoon, and it was POURING when we arrived. The woman in the camp office was really kind and told us how to get to our site. We had chosen it somewhat blindly, but it was the perfect spot. It was pull-through and paved, and just out our front window was a little grove of trees that were beginning to bud. We weren't far from the bathrooms, though we didn't use them, and we were a little distance from the playground.
The reason for our trip was that I was speaking at a conference in the lodge, so we were gone from the campground most of the time, and it also rained almost the entire weekend, so we weren't able to spend much time outside even when we were in the campground. But we were impressed that even with the rain/storms/cloud cover, we were able to pull in a great signal for our phones and internet.
There was a brief window of time on Saturday evening when it did not rain, so we tried to enjoy the fire pit, but it was muddy and flooded all the way around it. We noticed most of the other sites had grass or gravel clear up to the fire rings, but ours was worn down. We still did the fire (until the rain returned) but we had to sit pretty far from it to stay out of the mud. Made it hard to roast marshmallows! That was really our only complaint about our site.
Overall, we had a good first experience. The other campers were friendly and we didn't find it noisy at night. We wish we would have had better weather and more time to actually spend at the campground and exploring trails, so we would love to come back another time to try again! We might even try farther down in loop B for even more privacy and wooded scenery, especially since we don't need access to the bathrooms or playground.
