Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT) is one of the prominent and chief Universities that began in 1971 in Kerala to provide quality education in Science & Technology. The university has three main campuses: Trikkakara, Kochi, and Alleppey of Kerala. The University's Academic structure comprises ten faculties such as engineering, architecture, science, humanities, environmental science, marine science, Law, medical science, social science & technology. The B.Tech Lateral and M.Tech program selection procedure is based on national entrance exams such as LET, GATE, and JNUEE. Admission to the MBA program is based on the marks obtained in State or National level entrance exams such as KMAT, CAT, and CMAT.

The ten Faculties are divided into 27 departments that provide UG, PG, and research level programs for numerous courses.

CUSAT UG Admissions: B.Tech, M.Sc., LLB, and Dual Degree

The university offers a B.Tech program along with LLB, Integrated M.Sc., and a Dual Degree program at the undergraduate level.

The B.Tech program offered by the university has several specializations for students to choose their desired stream. Lateral entry to the B.Tech program is also provided for the 3rd semester, that is, for the 2nd year. Admission to all undergraduate programs is offered through an entrance exam conducted by the university named CUSAT CAT. The exam accepted for Lateral entry admission to the B.Tech program is the CUSAT LET exam. The university offers the Integrated M.Sc. program for five years, consisting of a B.Sc. program for three years and an M.Sc. program. The LLB program is offered for three years by the CUSAT. LLB is a regular Evening course that can be pursued by working professionals as well.

 CUSAT B.Tech Admissions:

Eligibility B.Tech Regular:

Students seeking admission to the regular B.Tech program will have to pass their 10+2 or equivalent from a well-recognized board in PCM subjects with 50% marks and 50% marks in each compulsory subject.

The students applying for the B.Tech program in Marine Engineering will have to pass PCM subjects with 60% marks and separately 50% marks in mathematics.

B.Tech Lateral Entry:

The students with good Diploma education are eligible to apply for B.Tech Lateral entry into the university. The students must have:

  • Three Year Diploma in Engineering or Technology with at least 60% marks.
  • The Department of Technical Education of the Government of Kerala should recognize the diploma program.
  • The maximum age for applying to B.Tech program Lateral entry is 25 years as of the 1st of July.

Selection Criteria:

B.Tech Regular:

The students applying for the regular B.Tech program will first qualify for the CAT exam that the university holds. The Entrance exam consists of 250 objective-type questions divided into Mathematics with 125 questions and Physics & Chemistry with 125 questions based on the syllabus of 10+2. The exam is held for 3 hours.

B.Tech Lateral Entry:

The students applying for B.Tech Lateral entry will have to qualify in LET that the university holds for 3 hours duration with 200 objective types MCQ questions. The students will be selected for admission in the admission process for the B.Tech Lateral entry program based on the marks obtained in LET. The LET exam questions are divided into 20 questions in English, 50 in Mathematics, 50 in General Engineering, and 40 in Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Graphics.

CUSAT Integrated M.Sc. Admissions:

Eligibility:

The students who desire to apply for the Integrated M.Sc. program offered by the university will have to qualify for the basic eligibility of 10+2 with PCM subjects from Kerala State.

The students with a degree equivalent to 10+2 or equivalent with at least 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks put together in PCM subjects are also eligible to apply for the integrated M.Sc. program.

 Selection Criteria:

The students seeking admission to the Integrated M.Sc. program will qualify for the CAT exam that the university conducts. The exam conducted for Integrate M.Sc. consists of questions relating to PCM subjects.

The Entrance exam consists of 250 objective-type questions divided into Mathematics with 125 questions and Physics & Chemistry with 125 questions based on the syllabus of 10+2. The exam is held for 3 hours.

CUSAT LLB Admissions:

Eligibility:

Students applying for the LLB program offered by the university will have to hold a bachelor's degree in the applicable stream with at least 55% marks from the university CUSAT recognizes.

Note: The Permanent employees of the Central or State Government will have to provide NOC from the employer to be admitted to the LLB program. The students must be working within a radius of 30 km of the CUSAT Thrikkakara Campus.

Selection Criteria:

The university conducts an entrance exam CAT for selecting students for the LLB program. The students will have to appear for GD and PI rounds the university holds after qualifying for the CAT exam.

The entrance test held by the University for LLB program consists of 150 objective questions for checking students' knowledge in Aptitude, GK, Reasoning, and Logic. The questions in the CAT exam for LLB are divided into two parts. Part 1 consists of 25 questions in Law related matters and 50 questions on Logical thinking and Reasoning. Part 2 consists of 50 questions in General English and 25 in GK and Current affairs.The Weightage for the LLB program's admission process is 25% each for Part 1 and Part 2 in the CAT exam, 30% for the GD round, and 20% for the Interview round.

CUSAT PG Admissions: M.Tech, M.Sc., M.F.Sc., MA, LLM, MCA, MBA, and Dual Degree program

The university offers a postgraduate-level programs in Engineering, Science, Law, Management, etc., such as M.Tech, M.F.Sc., M.Sc., LLM, MA, MBA, MCA, and Dual Degree programs. The admission process to the university is based on entrance exams for all programs, where some of the entrance exams for a few programs are conducted by the university itself.

The university offers a two-year full-time M.Tech program and a part-time M.Tech program.

The university also offers M.Sc. program for two years duration.

M.F.Sc. The program has a specialization offered by the university called Seafood Safety and Trade for two years.

The university offers Translation in Russian or German,  Hindi Language, and Literature & Applied Economics specializations in MA program.

The university offers two Postgraduate level Law programs, General LLM and LLM IPR, conducted for one year.

The university also offers an MCA program for a six-semester duration of three years. The university is also providing Lateral Entry Admission to the MCA program for 2nd year, which is the third semester.

Eligibility:

The Basic Eligibility required is Bachelor's Degree in applicable discipline from any University in Kerala or from a University that CUSAT recognizes with at least 60% marks.

Selection Criteria:

The students will have to qualify for the respective entrance exam to be admitted to the programs offered by the university.

Eligibility:

The students seeking admission to the M.Sc. program in CUSAT will have to hold bachelor's Degrees or equivalent in applicable discipline with at least 55% marks from well-recognized universities.

Selection Criteria:

To get selected for admission into the M.Sc. program, the students must first qualify for the CAT exam the university conducts.

CUSAT M.F.Sc. Admissions:

Eligibility:

Basic eligibility required for applying to M.F.Sc. Program in CUSAT is a bachelor's degree in Food Technology or Fisheries or Microbiology or Food Science or Zoology or Biochemistry or Microbiology with at least 55% marks from a well-known University.

Selection Criteria:

The university is conducting an entrance test for the students seeking admission to M.F.Sc. Program.

CUSAT MA Admissions:

Eligibility:

The university offers an MA program for the students with basic eligibility for Bachelor's degree in the applicable discipline from a University that CUSAT has recognized.

  • MA in Hindi Language and Literature – BA or B.Sc. Degree with 45% marks in Hindi Subject
  • MA in Translation in Russian or German – BA or B.Sc. Degree and Diploma in the applicable language
  • MA in Applied Economics – BA with 55% or B.Com or BBM or BBA with 60% marks in Economics or B.Sc. in Statistics or Mathematics with 65% marks

CUSAT LLM Admissions:

Eligibility:

The Basic eligibility required for the LLM program is a bachelor's degree from a university recognized by CUSAT with at least 55% marks.

Selection Criteria:

The students will be selected for the LLM program based on marks obtained in the CAT held by the university. The final admission will be based on GD and PI rounds. The entrance test consists of two parts, and the weightage given is 35% each for Part 1 and Part 2 of the entrance test, 15% each for GD and PI.

CUSAT MCA Admissions:

Eligibility:

The students who are seeking admission to the University's MCA program will have to hold a bachelor's degree in science with at least 55% marks in Mathematics or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Electronics or Computer Application or Computer Science or Engineering or Technology with at least 55% marks and the maximum age for applying to MCA program is 40 years as on 1st of August.

Selection Criteria:

The students will be selected for admission based on the CAT test conducted by the university. The test consists of 150 Objective questions for checking the capability and aptitude of the students. The questions in the test are divided into 100 questions in Computer Science & Application and 50 in Logical Reasoning.

CUSAT MBA Admissions:

The university offers an MBA program as a full-time and part-time program for working professionals. Specializations available in the MBA program are Travel & Tourism and International Business.

Eligibility:

The students must hold a bachelor's degree in the applicable stream with at least 50% marks.

Selection Criteria:

The Students will have to qualify for the CUSAT CAT exam or any other national level exams such as KMAT, CAT, or CMAT.

CUSAT Dual Degree Admissions:

The university offers a Dual Degree program in LLM (IPR or IP) + Ph.D. for five years, a non-professional and cost-sharing program.

Eligibility:

The basic eligibility required for admission to LLM (IPR) Dual Degree program is LLB from any Kerala University that CUSAT recognizes with at least 55% marks. LLM (IP) Dual Degree program requires basic eligibility of Bachelor's degree in Political Science or Economics or Management or History or Science & Technology with at least 55% marks from any Kerala University or CUSAT Recognized University.

Selection Criteria:

The student will be selected for the LLM Dual Degree program if they have qualified in the CAT exam the university conducts. The CAT test consists of 150 Objective questions for the aptitude check of the students.

CUSAT Application Process:

The university accepts admission to all the programs through the respective entrance exam conducted by CUSAT or any other National Level exams. The university is taking application forms online from the CUSAT website.

The students must visit the university's official website and register by filling out the essential details. The students will have to follow the steps given on the website for applying to any program.

Note: The students must ensure all the details entered are correct. After confirming the parties, the students cannot change it afterward.

The students will be provided with a temporary password which has to be changed by logging in to the account through an Email ID. After login, other details have to be entered. A scanned copy of photographs and signatures must be attached. The application Fee has to be paid through the available payment options.

Notes:

  • Admit Card for the entrance test will not be sent through a Post.
  • Admit Card will be available on the University's Official Website, which has to be downloaded.
  • Students will be given a list of the program the students are eligible to apply.
  • Multiple programs can be selected.

To get an MBA seat at CUSAT, the applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with min of 50% marks. Selections will be based on CUSAT CAT/ KMAT/ CMAT followed by GD and PI rounds.

Cochin University of Science and Technology MBA admissions are based on graduation degree followed by entrance exam scores. The accepted exams are CAT/ KMAT/ C-MAT etc.
