A graduate of Penn State University and Columbia University Business School, Eric moved to Crested Butte in 1971 from New York City. Over the past 52 years, he has owned and operated Penelope's Restaurant, The Powerhouse Bar & Grill, The Cement Creek Tavern and, until 2020, The Wooden Nickel. Through the 70's and 80's he was active in building business and renovated several historic properties in Crested Butte's commercial core, developed condominiums and several commercial projects. Because of his experiences, he is comfortable with all types of real estate and is knowledgeable in all aspects of the continuing development of the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte area. Eric has also served on the Crested Butte Town Council, the CB State Bank Board and was a founding member of the Center for the Arts and a founding member and first president of the CB Academy.

With his wife, Ruth, they have lived in the Crested Butte Meadows since 1988, where they raised their two children Pearce and Alexis.
