STOP Zoning Changes Allowing Chick-fil-A Construction in Newtown
🚨 Sewer Plant Slated for Newtown, Near Your Home: Take Action Now!

Thanks to our collective efforts, we successfully stopped the Chick-fil-A development. But now, a new threat has emerged.

The Newtown Sewer Authority has purchased 17.5 acres near the Wawa under construction along the Newtown Bypass to build a massive 2.5 million gallon-per-day SEWER PLANT.

This project will bring:

  • Falling property values due to proximity to a sewer plant.
  • Odor and truck traffic affecting 12,000 residents and local businesses.
  • Environmental risks to Lake Luxembourg, Core Creek, and Neshaminy Creek.
  • Higher sewer costs for Newtown customers as we exit the regional system.
  • Increased development and congestion in our community.

HERE IS HOW TO TAKE ACTION!!!
📅 Attend the Newtown Township Supervisors Meeting:
    When: January 22nd, 2025, at 7:00 PM
Where: 100 Municipal Drive, Newtown, PA

Update on Chick-fil-A Zoning Hearing - A Temporary Halt

Dear Neighbors,

I have some important news to share regarding the proposed Chick-fil-A development near our homes. Thanks to your support and the 650+ signatures we gathered, there has been a significant development.

Temporary Pause: The Newtown Township supervisors have been informed that Chick-fil-A / Newtown Equities, LLC has requested an indefinite extension for their zoning hearing application. This means the application has been withdrawn for now and will not be scheduled for review unless the developers decide to proceed.

What This Means: While this is a positive step, it is a conditional and temporary halt, not a definitive victory. The application could be resubmitted in the future, possibly in a different form or location. We must stay vigilant and prepared to mobilize again if necessary.

Engage and Comment: Your comments on the petition are incredibly valuable—they help publicize our community's desires and concerns. Please take a moment to leave a comment if you haven't already. Comments are more impactful than private emails because they’re public and can be shared widely.

Stay Informed: To keep abreast of developments, I highly recommend subscribing to John Mack’s email list. John has been instrumental in keeping us informed; his updates have been invaluable.

Looking Ahead to 2025: The upcoming local elections will be crucial. Traffic and overdevelopment are pressing issues, and with changes likely within our Board of Supervisors, the candidates we choose will significantly influence our community's future. Engaging in the electoral process will be more important than ever.

Please remain engaged and ready to act. Your continued support is crucial as we strive to preserve the charm and safety of Newtown.

Thank you for your commitment to our community.

Warm regards,

Donna Serdula
