I don’t like star anise for the same reason - it’s a little jar of spiders sitting in my cupboard!
I will try and keep that in mind, as I continually watch it from the corner of my eye, waiting for it to scurry over and eat my brain…
Doesn't look like a spider to me. It's only got 7 legs.
