Elected Member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Margo Seltzer, a Canada 150 Research Chair in Computer Systems, Cheriton Family Chair in Computer Science, and UBC Computer Science teacher and researcher has been elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Academy members are world leaders in the arts and sciences, business, philanthropy, and public affairs. These members join with other experts to explore challenges facing society, identify solutions, and promote nonpartisan recommendations that advance the public good.
Margo is the only member who is from a Canadian University, to be elected into the Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences Class this year.
Oprah Winfrey is a fellow elected member this year within the Business, Corporate and Philanthropic Leadership Class.
