Democrat star Julia Louis-Dreyfus claims her gaffe-prone Veep character isn't based on Kamala Harris
Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus has insisted her HBO hit tv show Veep character is nothing like Vice President Kamala Harris.
In the show, the actress, 63, plays self-absorbed and ambitious politician Selina Meyer, the Vice President, who later becomes the President of the United States.
Following the news that President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race fans recirculated a hilarious clip from the political satire comedy which Louis-Dreyfus' character reacts to a similar situation.
However, the Seinfeld alum said her gaffe-prone Veep character is not based on the first real life female vice president.
'I play a very, shall we say, almost narcissistic, sociopathic, mega, maniacal type of person. I am not a Kamala Harris type,' Louis-Dreyfus told MSNBC's Ari Melber on Friday.

The fan favorite clip that went viral after Harris was endorsed for president shows Louis-Dreyfus character's team shocked reactions as she lets them know that she's going to run for President.
'I'm not leaving. POTUS is leaving. He's not going to run for a second term. I'm gonna run. I'm gonna run for president!' she excitedly tells them.
'I did not see that coming,' one person replies. 'Leader Meyer, team Veep on fire!' another jokes.
'Let's go to the f*****g moon!' someone else on her team declares, while yet another team member adds, 'I was this close to living on my boat.'
However, the award-winning actress insisted Harris has nothing in common with her character.
'I played a character who was a woman but who also hated being a woman and didn't want to define herself as a woman because she thought it wouldn't be an asset,' Louis-Dreyfus said.

The Veep cast reunited on Sunday for a table read benefitting the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, reported Deadline.
Louis-Dreyfus hosted a panel at the Democratic National Convention this year and has previously supported the Biden-Harris administration.
She hosted Biden's mostly-virtual 2020 convention amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020 Louis-Dreyfus congratulated Harris by tweeting that the idea of a 'Madam Vice President' is 'no longer fictional.' She also congratulated Biden at the time.
