Then on Wednesday, he took part in a training ground friendly against Quevilly-Rouen, coming on to replace Hugo Etitike for the last 20 minutes.
While Kylian is known for his pace as a quick forward, Ethan displayed a more technical side to his game as a midfielder in highlights of the Rouen clash, which were posted on YouTube, and have now amassed more than 1.5 million views on Twitter as well.
It led to fans on social media drawing comparisons between Mbappe and another current France legend - Juventus star Adrien Rabiot.

A third said: 'He reminds me of Rabiot in his touches of the ball'.
Another went into more detail about the 15-year-old's play displayed in the clip, and said that perseverance should see him become a successful player in his own right.
They wrote: 'It looks like a Rabiot with more explosiveness, more technical finesse and a large volume of play. He is certainly young but with work, a bright future awaits him.'
Rabiot, 27, was part of the France squad that finished second at the 2022 edition of the World Cup, with the midfielder getting on the scoresheet in their 4-1 win over Australia in the group stage.
PSG, who currently lead Ligue 1 by five points, return to domestic action when they host Strasbourg on December 28, the day before Ethan's 16th birthday.
