Social Interaction

Study of social behaviors in rodents is used to glean insight into human disorders that coincide with social dysfunction, such as autism and schizophrenia. Protocols such as the three-chamber sociability test provide screening of social preference, recognition, and memory. Other test designs may be employed to explore aspects of social dominance and aggression. Also of interest are protocols such as observational fear conditioning that capture empathy-like and pro-social responses.
