A mild Christmas Day is in store but plummeting temperatures are on the way.
Today will be dry and rather cloudy with the odd bright spell in the afternoon. Temperatures will range around 11 or 12 degrees.
Tonight will be mostly dry and cloudy with just a chance of patchy rain and drizzle at timed. Nighttime temperatures will be around 8 to 11 degrees.
St Stephen's Day will be mild too but there will be a few brighter spells. It will be a mostly dry day but with the chance of outbreaks of light rain and drizzle and possibly some mist patches. Temperatures will be around 10 to 13 degrees.
There is no further for forecast for Dublin but here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Thursday night
"Staying cloudy on Thursday night with scattered patches of light rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.
Friday
"A cloudy day with further patchy light rain and drizzle, mainly across the western half of the country. There will be a good deal of dry weather further east. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.
Friday night
"Most areas look to be mainly dry at first Friday night with further rain and drizzle before more persistent rain develops in the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate southerly winds.
Saturday
"A wet start to the day with outbreaks of rain spreading across the country from the west. The rain will clear in the afternoon, followed by sunny spells and isolated showers. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with light to moderate southwest winds veering northwest and increasing moderate to fresh as the rain arrives.
Saturday night
"A cooler and largely dry night, Saturday night, with clear spells. It will become cloudier over the northern half of the country with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing there. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, coolest under clear skies in the southeast, in light to moderate westerly winds."
