What is early learning?

 

By UNESCO’s definition -Early childhood, defined as the period from birth to eight years old, is a time of remarkable growth with brain development at its peak. During this stage, children are highly influenced by the environment and the people that surround them.

Early childhood care and education (ECCE) is more than preparation for primary school. It aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing. ECCE has the possibility to nurture caring, capable and responsible future citizens

What are the key pillars of early learning ?

• Balanced: Provide a balance of play and structured activities, including adult- and child-initiated exploration.
  
• Based on a child’s developmental needs: Activities, materials, and schedules should be appropriate to a child’s age and support all developmental domains.

What is Ekdali’s approach to early learning?

Ekdali’s approach is based on the 3Cs – Curiosity, Creativity and Courtesy. Research shows that kids with positive social skills, creative nature and curiosity stay happy through the challenges of school leanring. They are unfazed by new problems and open to learning new things. At Ekdali, we ensure each of our products address at least one of the three Cs. The learning process is built in to be development milestone based and age appropriate.

How Language develops in toddlers?

From birth on, humans are programmed to develop speech and language. The first five years are the most important. However, language development continues throughout early childhood and into adolescence. During the first five years, stimulation of language development is essential as the brain is developing new nerve cells as well as multiple connections between these cells to serve the function of expressive and receptive language. Visual cues, prompts, expressing different shapes and sizes, social interaction with kids & adults are all ways through which kids learn to express themselves.

 

How does  numeracy skills develop in kids?

 

Numeracy is the ability to recognise and apply maths concepts in life. Numeracy skills involve understanding numbers, counting, solving number problems, measuring, estimating, sorting, noticing patterns, adding and subtracting numbers, and so on.

Children start learning numeracy skills from the time they’re born. This learning happens from watching and experiencing numeracy in action, especially in everyday play and activities – Asking for 3 sweets, counting fingers, counting friends, asking five more spoons – All these activities help them comprehend numeracy

What are learning aids?

A learning aid is something intended to enhance learning and retention by the learner. They can be aid learning through one or more of the below routes

 

Visual – Learning charts, maps, picture books

Auditory – Audio stories, Animal sounds

Kinesthetic -  Using  combinations of visual & auditory to learn by doing

The early learning books in our book boxes are effective in all three modes of learning - Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic.  The  colorful illustrations provide the right amount of stimuli for kids to get interested and start asking questions. Questions build conversations , and conversations are a great way to enhance auditory learning.

There is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly and without judgment. The ability to be creative, to create something from personal feelings and experiences, can reflect and nurture children's emotional health. The experiences children have during their first years of life can significantly enhance the development of their creativity
